Scholarships offered to attend Call on Congress 2013

Postby NWgirl » Thu Nov 22, 2012 1:17 pm

There are some criteria you have to meet to apply. But if you haven't attended before and are considering it, check out their link that explains who is eligible to apply. This is the first time they have offered scholarships to attend Call on Congress.

http://fightcolorectalcancer.org/

And even if you don't fit this criteria but plan on attending, there is a slight discount on registration if you register before December 31, 2012. You can get all details on the event and register at their website (again - link above). Hope to see many of my Colon Club peeps there next March!

Hi, NWgirl

I was looking at the site, but it is well limited, I think ... It would be open for all the community, and for the whole world, inclusive patients, caregivers, and whoever wish to help with crc.

A kiss for you

Fede

Fede - the scholarships are limited, yes, but "Call on Congress" itself is open to everyone - even if the person has no connection at all to colo-rectal cancer and regardless of where they live. This is the first year they have been able to offer scholarships - so they must have received some additional funding to offer these.

Thinking of attending next year? I know a lot of us would love to meet you and the Washington D.C. area is amazing - especially if you haven't been there before.

This has been a dream for me for a long time!!! And when my mom passed I was able to seed the fund and get this going, so I am excited!!!!

About requirements my guess is that you do have to be a US citizen because Call in Congress is to enact US legislation and at this point not world legislation. You do meet with your congressmen etc. But when I get back from Vacation I will have to go see what limitations they listed!

Aloha!

Liz - I had a feeling you were behind the scholarships but didn't want to say anything. But now that you've fessed up - THANK YOU!!!!! That is so kind and generous of you and it couldn't go towards a better cause. D.C. is soooooo expensive and I know that keeps many people away.

Fede - there were at least a half dozen Colon Club peeps there last year, more I think - we'd love to see you there in 2013! And anyone else that can make it too!
