It works very well. Since you're in California, you should be able to get a legal supply. Not sure of the cost, but I suspect if you can't afford it, there are probably programs to supply it to those in need, for free. We have a member, Rick, who is also in Cali and seems very knowledgeable about the topic of medial marijuana, so hopefully he will check in and tell you exactly what you need to do.
As someone who has used cannabis to combat nausea and other chemo side effects, I can attest to its effectiveness. It works immediately and completely, in my experience.
