RixinPhx passed away today

Postby crazymotherof8 » Thu Sep 27, 2012 8:37 pm

Dear Colon Club Friends,
I got a call a while ago from Mindy, Rick's sister who told me that Rick passed away today in the early afternoon. She told me that he had been kept comfortable but she was grateful that he was now free from pain. She wanted me express her appreciation for all of you who sent well wishes to Rick and she let me know that she read them to him everyday. He was responsive up until yesterday.
Mindy was so touched that Rick was well loved and respected by our community and she was overwhelmed by the kindness that all of you have shown to Rick during this difficult time.
Rick was an architect so his wishes were to be cremated and have his ashes mixed with cement. She is hoping to have a celebration of his life at a park near his home and place him there. I think he would like that.
I know that Rick will be very missed by all of us here. He always gave us hope, encouragement and sage advice.
I will miss you my dear friend...............

A NOTE:
I let Mindy know that everyone here would of course respond to this post so I told her to continue reading the Colon Club. She said she would. She commented several times about how The Colon Club was such an amazing organization. I agree wholeheartedly! I could not make it without all of you and I know that Rick felt the same way. Whenever we spoke about the members here his deep care and concern was very apparent.

Very sad about this news. He was the first to reply to my very first post concerning my dad. He thanked me for coming out of "lurkdom" and blessed me for my concern for my dad. I found that to be so heartwarming and endearing. It stayed with me.

My sincerest condolences to the family. I know he was a closer friend to many of you on the board, but I really did enjoy and learn from all of his contributions as I am a regular reader of the board. I, too, will miss him.

I have not been on this club that long but what I did see was this man who was so compassionate to answer so many questions while he was fighting so hard. It really breaks my heart that this crappy disease takes so many good people. My sympathy to the family.

Wow.. Thank you niki for keeping us all informed. I miss Rick so much, he was so kind to all of us and so helpful when he was struggling as well. I will never forget how much he helped me with my questions or concerns. He would say.".lisa.. Give me 30 minutes and I will do some research for you and get back to you", and sure enough he would. He took the time to help me when he himself was fighting for his own life.

I hope Rick will find Kevin in Heaven and the two, along with many others that have passed from here will form a bond like the colonclub.

My prayers go out to the family, what a great brother you had.

Love,

Rick was a source of comfort and knowledge for so many. He put up a good fight. Now he can be at peace. We will miss you.

Went in for surgery for a cyst on my bladder, and they found colon cancer growing on the outside of the colon. Got to have two surgeries at the same time! Stage 3, one node involved.
