Becky,
I am so very sorry to hear this. I know the fear that lives with you every second of every day. Try to focus on being his wife and not his caregiver now. Let hospice and friends and family help as much as they will. Lay with him. Talk to him. Cry with him. Touch him. Then touch him some more. Say everything that's in your heart. Everything. Don't let a moment pass because you are focused on caring for him.

Know that I am lifting you in prayer. Strength. Peace. Comfort for the lonely hours sitting at his bedside.

Becky, I am so sorry Wayne has taken this rapid change for the worse. I am in the same situation, and it is very difficult at times, isn't it? I so hope your family and friends will rally around you and provide you with the assistance you need to travel this path with Wayne. Take care and please know how much we all care.

Hi Becky,
My heart is with you as you try to find the strength to get through the hardest part of the journey. I hope that your son Matt and DIL will be able to help as much as possible. I know you aren't close with your other son but hopefully he will realize how important family support means and come to be with his Dad (and Mom). Can't add more to the advice already posted. Let hospice do their job and take care of Wayne's needs so you can focus on helping him transition and get ready to go Home. God is with you always, lean on Him. I know He will give you the peace and courage to do what you have to. Never stop telling Wayne you love him and hold him - I'm sure he is just as lonely and scared as you are. Love and prayers for you always. Always here for you, Becky!

My thoughts and prayers for strength and patience are coming you way from NY. Wayne's body probably doesn't need food right now. Only give him what he can tolerate. Don't get crazy about the "Thick It". You can try making the liquids a little thicker but his body make not need them. Keep his mouth nice and moist. As your church for help. Many retired and active nurses love to help but just wait to be asked. You can't do this alone. It's too much to ask of yourself.
