This HELPED my stupid neuropathic feet!

Postby Bev G » Wed Sep 19, 2012 7:59 am

Hi all,

These burning, knife pain feet have contributed heavily to my difficulty sleeping over the past 18 months or so, and I've tried (I thought) everything...Lyrica (big mistake for me), various stuff I've put on them, up to five showers a night (seriously!)---just so sick of it. Got a brainstorm last night. I have this stuff called "BioFreeze" that my daughter recommended for my butt pain from the ruptured disc/sciatica. When she suggested it, I frankly thought "yeah, right"--a topical thing is not going to help this awful pain in my ass, but actually, when the pain is from a spasm rather than from the nerve, it helps a lot! So last night, as I was anticipating another one of "those nights" with my burning, stabbing pain feet, I saw the BioFreeze by my bed, and just thought, why the H*LL not? So, I put quite a dose of it on both feet and had the best night of sleep I've had in eons. Worked like a charm!!!

This stuff apparently cannot be found in pharmacies. I had to get mine through Amazon. it's not too expensive. I think I got three tubes of it for about $18 but I can't remember exactly now--I know this though, if it reduces some of this neuropathic pain, I'd send Amazon my left arm for it (and, I'm left handed!)

I hope this may help someone!

Love,

Bev

Bev,

Thank you for this suggestion. I never got neuropathy from my many treatments with oxaliplatin, but about three weeks ago I came down with an awful case of shingles. It started behind my knee, wrapped around down my leg and to my foot. The rash has almost disappeared now but I am left with this horrible nerve pain called postherpetic neuralgia. I researched Lyrica, but found the side effects seem to be worse than the cure. I was thinking maybe acupuncture might help - doing research into this right now. The pain is miserable especially at night. I found a place that sells Biofreeze not too far from where I live so I am definitely going to check that out TODAY!

Hope this works for me - I'll let you know. Thanks SO MUCH for sharing.

After my car accident, I used biofreeze on many parts - it was great for my back and shoulder. Didn't think about using it on my feet - can't wait to see if I also get some relief. Thanks for the suggestion.

Larry LOVED Biofreeze!!! I have a Morton's Neuroma that has developed in my right foot. The symptoms are intense, burning pain in one area of my foot. I'm gonna try this today and see if I can get some relief! The treatment for MN is steroids. I politely declined those and figured I'd tough this one out. Larry's ordeal with steroids has me very, very leary of using them for anything....so maybe this will help.

Our chiropractor sells BioFreeze. We frequently use it on areas of our backs that are causing pain.

So sorry to hear about your pain, but it's not the feet's fault. Glad you found some relief!

Bev....thanks for this tip. I have BioFreeze right in my med cabinet, the roll on kind. A foot doctor gave it to me for a heel spur a while back. I have awful neuropathy and nothing has worked so far...not even 60mgs of Cymbalta daily, which BTW, almost put me in the looney bin. Thanks again!

Hi Nicola,

Mine is the blue gel. Interestingly, I checked your link out, and the type I am using is not what they recommend for feet. They are saying a roll-on or spray-on for feet. Sometimes I cannot stand to have my feet touched (that seems to come and go??!??) but I was OK with putting the stuff on last night. Next time I get some, I think I'll get some spray. Thanks for that link. I hope if you try it, it helps a lot.

Bev,
I've used it before as well for shoulder pain. I got mine at the local PT office. You should look at those as well....many offices stock it.
