I am also in Phoenix...just a tip at your home city to you profile then people would have seen where you are from because there is a good handful of us here in the Valley. In fact I am on one of the Cancer Advisory Boards of one of our hospitals and I know pretty much all the ColoRectal Surgeons in the Valley so I am curious who you ended up with, you can PM the name to me. And you must not be going to Banner Hospital because they never ask for money up front like that and if it is I would be surprised!?

I also run a ColoRectal Support group for patients, family and caregivers, it is the first Tuesday of each month at Banner Desert Hospital and would love to have you come!

Again let me know if you have questions!

Hi Jess,
I was 26 when I was diagnosed. I understand your fear and frustration with all of it. I could barely say the words I have colon cancer for almost 6 months. It has been almost 2 years now since then. I'm here for you if you need to talk to someone who gets it! I'm not the best about checking this forum but my email is valerie.kolm@gmail.com and you can reliably reach me there. Remember that you are not alone! I felt so alone when I was first diagnosed.
Lots of love and strength,
Valerie

I forgot to add that my tumor was HUGE, and yet was only stage 1. So try not to freak yourself out too much before you have the actual staging back. I know that is SO much easier said than done. I hope your surgery goes uneventfully!

Thank you everyone for all your help. Today is the big surgery. I have to say in tired of my bathroom and want to just eat food. My surgery isn't until 4pm so I have a long ways to go. They said drink a gallon of water before 8am. I'm trying but truthfully its just going straight through me. I'm going to be suffering by afternoon. I'm nervous about the hospital and all it entails. Trying to keep my mind off it but you know the voice in my head is rattling on and on. I will keep you updated and hopefully I will have staging soon.
