Gaelen update - TUESDAY 7/17 UPDATE

Postby weisssoccermom » Sat Jul 14, 2012 5:29 pm

This will be a very brief update regarding Gaelen. I spoke with her brother today and Pat's condition has worsened. She is presently in the hospital and is resting comfortably. I will update you as I get more information. PLEASE keep Pat and her family (remember her sister is also quite ill at this time as well) in your thoughts during this time. I will be making sure that her brother is aware of all wishes, threads, etc. that anyone wants to pass on to Pat and he will convey those messages to her.

Thanks for the update. Even tho we knew it was coming, it is still tough to hear that such a vibrant and forceful member of CC is fading. I hope her family knows how much she did for so many people here.

Went in for surgery for a cyst on my bladder, and they found colon cancer growing on the outside of the colon. Got to have two surgeries at the same time! Stage 3, one node involved.

Thanks for the update. Knowing this was coming I didn't realize how hard it would be to hear. Pat and her family are in my thoughts, and I pray for comfort for all of them during this hard time. The CRC community is losing such a valuable person who has shared knowledge and helped further causes with Congress and with the research community, as well as being such a wonderful resource here on Colon Club. I was very honored to meet her and find she was just as I expected - warm, smart and funny, but also realistic and practical.

Thanks for updating us Jaynee. It is not easier to hear, even though being treatment free since march we knew it would come to this. I hope Gaelen is comfortable and at peace. She has fought long and hard and made her decisions her way. Sending my strongest thoughts to her and her family/friends at this difficult time.

We're having a tough month at the Colon Club. Gaelen is a member who gave us so much and made us look deep into all of our thoughts and plans. I'm glad she is being cared for although I know the hospital was not her choice. I pray she can be inpatient hospice. Pat and her family are in my prayers.
