I like the idea of getting you comfortable before the MRI, Bill, because that can be pretty tedious and painful, as I'm sure you know. So that's a solid plan. Just try to relax (lol).

Funny how kids grow up right in front of your very eyes. I think sometimes we forget that they have other sources of information--friends and other people they know who know about cancer, the Internet, etc. I'm sometimes surprised when I get that extra tight hug from my daughter or that unexpected phone call. I'm guessing she got a reality check from somewhere. That's OK--that's how they learn a lot about sex, too, and that's fine with me.

So, I managed to cover sex and drugs and cancer in one short post.

Must be the Decadron. (7 rounds down, 5 to go).

Sending good thoughs, hope you will find the doc that can take the pain down. I´ve seen people getting able to be much more active after better pain management care.
Best wishes, good to hear from you.

Hi Bill. I've admired how much you can do while you're going through treatments & other "horribleness", so if you're complaining about pain, then it must be bad! I'm glad they're getting some specialists to get it under control. I'll be thinking of you. I like the idea of sending a "sex, drugs & rock 'n roll" to you...

Just a quick note to let you know Bill is still in the hospital. They've upped his baseline oxycotin and added morphine to the mix. Radiation treatments started today and I know you'll be amused by his description to Thomas and I this evening....

First he had to climb on to a narrow guerney this wide (imagine him holding his hands about 8 inches apart). Then the strapped in his lower and upper legs but apparently they didn't think the torso needed belting. Next the guerney was raised high enough to bump his nose on the way out of the door. Then they transported him the long way to the back of hopsital where he was loaded into the back of an ambulance. The ambulance then drove around the building and across the street to the cancer center where he was lifted from the guerney to the table.

He thought the listing was a bit overkill but after the poking and proding to get him in place for the treatment he was happy not to have to move of his own volition to get back to his room.

We did bring him his laptop and nook this evening so I'm sure when he has enough energy he will share from his own perspective with his morphine induced typing errors.

Thank you so much, Lois, for the update. I had checked FB before I got here and posted my thoughts on there about managing his pain and how very important it is.

You're both in my thoughts and prayers daily. I hope they come up with a combo that manages his pain and later allows him to manage it at home.

God bless ~

Well, it's late again and I'm up. . . but only for a few minutes.

today was day 2 radiation on back/shoulder and day 1 for my hip.

Switched to PCA so I just push the button to get my morphine now. It is working better for me now, I feel in control. There is one severe pain that doesn't seem to respond to morphine whether the nurse pushes it or the ssytem delivers it. . . I think ( pretty much know ) it hurts not where the source is. I have changed my postures and how I put pressure on my upper back and lower neck and that seems to have helped.

'course I've said similar before many times it recently it seems, perhaps I haven't figured anything out about that yet. Time will tell.

So obviously I talked to my onc today. my oxycontin went from 60->80 Monday and today went from 80->120

I am sleepy and don't have anything buring to report, so I'llcut short for now.

Tahkns for all yoru well wishes folks. I do appreciate it .
