Hit-n-run Bill5107 status. . .

Postby Bill5107 » Mon Jun 18, 2012 10:18 am

Hey guys. I'm only on and back of quick today so whatever else is going on, I'm terribly sorry but I cannot get caught up and cannot respond. Y'all know I want to. I do wish the best for everyone. It seems it's my turn for a rougher than manageable spell. . . so here's my breif rant I'll post here and one other place bcause I know you will "get" it and will not let me indulge in it too much, if I can manage to get back on here in the near future. (I always seem to find a way ;-p )

My initial reaction to my last phone call was "!@#$%#!" (I don't swear as a rule, so I'm pretty bad at it. Just put in allyour best expletives :-p )

I had a reasonable few hours Saturday which were great. I got to participate in a few hours of relay for life with my troop. It was a well done troop-like event, even though not officially a troop event (in terms of insurance, official uniforms etc..lol )

I did the surivor lap with my son. We actually talked about some things that let on that he's definitely thinking and processing what has ben going on now and into the future. He's getting so big! Physically and mentally. I really can't gush enough.

At the end of the lap an event helper offered a ride back to "home base" but I declined, because we were where my chair was and we were also where lunch would be :-) So instead of sitting in my chair it turned out we could just go on in and enjoy our survivor + caregivver luncheon. It was nice enough lunch, but as always, the company makes the event and the staffers making sure you have water and cake finish off the experience.

I didn't stay much past that. I just visited at home base in the shade in my recliner lawn chair (actually my wifes that I perpetually borrow lol). I saw the boys organizing to keep at least one or 2 on the track at all times. Before I got uncomfortable, I went home to rest, hoping to feel better enough to return. Well, that never happened. I forced a facsimile of it to happen at 4:50am though! lol. I drove out, my son somehow saw me and came to the car to visit for a spell and I saw the only scout on the track go by twice. I will have to offer him a special thanks.

Anyway, I never got out of the car and went back home.

The rest of Sunday was miserable. I kept going from level 5 to level 7 sometimes 8 pain. I tried everything I could to find comfortable positions, but I won't get into the details too much. My hips have been the main culprit since last tuesday and I can't imagine doing this last 36 hours again. . . and late yesterday my back and rt. shoulder are revving up. Also similar pain levelsm, though mostly less for now.

I called in to my oncologist today and it was decided that after my MRI, I will go there, and after MRI results they will likey admit me to the hospital for proper pain management.

That's what I swore about. . . I don't feel that's necessary yet, there must be other options before that, no? But then again, something will snap if I try to repeat the last couple days. . . so I'm all in once I reframed it that way.

Wish me luck, I have no idea what lies ahead.

oooo...hot update! I know I'm out of it since I never thought of what my Onc just suggested. . . they will admit me first, get me comfy then do MRI. . . sounds smart to me.

I'll catch up here soon enough.

Cheers

Hey Bill,

I'm pleased to hear that you had a reasonable day on Saturday....you always make an effort and I know that your troop means a lot to you. I'm sure that they all feel the same way about you. It must have been great for you and your son to do the survivor lap together.

I'm sorry to hear that you are in so much pain. I hope that you are able to get it under control very soon.

Post when you can, but if not, we understand. Thinking of you and sending you my best wishes.

Take care,

Michelle

I hate, hate, hate this disease and what it is doing to you. I'm so glad you had some quality time with your son - he's one awesome kid - clearly following the example you and Lois have set for him. I hope they are able to get your pain under control soon - that makes such a difference in quality of life. Stephen had neck surgery a few weeks ago and was in almost uncontrollable pain for the few weeks leading up to it.

I think of you often and you are always in my prayers.

Sending you wishes for supremely good pain control. I hate that it has to be in a hospital setting but perhaps they can get it figured out and then maybe, maybe a home health option may be available.

Bill warm thoughts of pain control are coming your way. Pain control doesn't have to be inpatient. Nerve blocks, opinoid patches, lots of stuff to work with. I'm so sorry that this sucky disease comes with pain.
