Okay, Beverly asked me to post my scan results today. I must say I am dumbfounded. Not only did the scan show that the adrenal anomally that the doctor had been concerned about was nothing of import, but showed there was no evidence of active cancer anywhere. The way he put it is that it's there, but is dormant. When I asked him if this meant I had an improved prognosis, he said that it could come back in 5 years, 10 years, even 20 years. 6 months ago, I was looking at 5 years on the outside. This has come about with no surgery and one 12 treatment round of Folfox....and a lot of prayer. I have to have PET scans every 3 months and keep my port with port flushes every 6 weeks, but that's it. Has anyone else had this experience or know of anyone who has?

Yes; both.

I've run across one or two people who've had what is called "a complete response" to chemo. It's very, very rare...but sometimes the drugs do their job very well.

Gaelen - I was hoping you can share some knowledge about what's meant by "complete response" ... is that a negative PET and/or when nothing shows up on CT?

What great news!! I guess you were right when you said in a different post that you tend to be the exception rather than the rule! Good for you!

I have a friend with complete response after Folfox/Avastin. There was no evidence of his liver met at the resection. Opened him up and found nothing, so only colon resect done.
Three yrs later, the liver met reappeared. Liver resection done- no follow up chemo. Along the way, there was a lung met (before the liver met reappeared), had surgery, and again, no chemo. He's well and approaching the four yr mark.
Incredible treatment response. LOVE IT! Congratulations!
