Cyberknife a success! Cancerversary coming up!

Postby fourT's » Mon Mar 19, 2012 8:53 pm

I just wanted to update you all that my hubby's 3 Cyberknife treatments from the end of December have worked wonderfully! He just had a scan last week and it showed no liver tumor! He had a 2cm tumor that was found last fall and now the liver is clear. His CEA at the time was also 66 (high for hubby) and is now a low 2.0!

We are now clear to wait until June for another scan. April 1st, 2012 will be hubby's 4 year cancerversary and it has been 27 months since chemo!

That is great news. I'd like to ask about the cyberknife. Did they recommend that because there was only one tumor (vs. doing a resection)? Does that part of the liver eventually heal (as in regenerate new tissue.....i guess is what i am asking)? I've heard of RFA of liver tumors, but not cyberknife....is it just a matter of preference, or is there a huge difference? Will he do follow-up chemo?
Thanks for the info. I, too, have a 2cm. tumor on the liver following resection 9 weeks ago. I am doing chemo, and hoping for another resection, but am wondering if maybe RFA, or cyberknife would be better??
Thank you again, and your news is very good to hear.

Hi Tracy-

Thanks for the update on your husband. I am so happy for you both the cyberknife worked! And his CEA sounds like a good indicator... 2.0 is excellent!! :D
