Colonoscopy perfect at 4 yrs!

Postby Jen » Thu Mar 08, 2012 3:28 pm

Well, aside from the anastamosis @ 12cm...but all was good, they only noted viewing my surgical site and unremarkable otherwise. After I felt like the "Very Hungry Caterpillar" after 40 hrs no food (those with kids will know that book) I ate one corned beef boxty at an irish pub (no beer, I did follow those rules) curry french fries -which I really only ate 10 of, picked up my little boy and we went for icecream and I got a double kids scoop of pralines and cream and rocky road, and had lasagna for dinner. Ahh then I felt nourished! and I know that is not what one is supposed to do but it was fine for me. Now i go to every 3yrs. Yay because I did Trylite and gagged on the first couple glasses of the gallon. There is something about colonoscopys vs scans - with colonoscopy's its right there up close whereas scans can be interpreted differently and it takes a lot to be sure of the results. I had my normal freezing cold nervous teeth chattering before being put under and they used heavier stuff than Versed (sp?) cause of the past radiation etc.

So I feel good and have hiked 3 different mountains in 2 weeks (thanks to those who responded about my exercise / bathroom issues post).

Now we drive out to Death Valley to hike and enjoy the scenery. I love seeing what survives in a place that's like hell on earth :D

Congratulations on 4 years NED! Isn't it amazing how hungry you get before a colonoscopy or a CT scan? I'm amazed that the sound of my stomach growling doesn't scare the technicians to death!

Keep up the hiking! I'm one week post double-lung surgery and ileostomy reversal, so I'm only doing baby walks of 2-3 miles, but I hope to be back to more strenuous activities soon.

Way to go Jen, very happy for your 4 years NED, and hopefully forever. Just curious to know why you were staged 3C , I was staged 3B as my signature shows T3N2a. You have similar pathology finding to mine, should you not be at 3B?. Just wondering , and if I am correct, then you have good news to add to yours. Here is the site that shows the staging.

Congrats Jen, that's a tremendous milestone. But I think you went too far by not having a beer!

Thanks all for the kind congratulations, and Toby57, If you are a 3B then possibly I was also, my tumor was 5cm through the wall, subserosa, and into the peri-rectal fat with the 4 nodes involved so maybe my tumor was considered a T4? rather than T3? I remember being told I was a Dukes C, then the staging became a little more defined and subcategorized, so maybe I was a B? I don't know.

I like the sound of 3B better :D

Brilliant news!
I also like your 3B logic!
Enjoy your hiking and please please come to Ireland and see that we don't eat corned beef at all and the best boxty is made usually by Granny's and is divine. Plan a trip! We've lots of hikes here & I'll make you boxty :)
