I have great news!!!! path reports are in

Postby KellyW » Tue Mar 06, 2012 12:43 pm

I had my colectomy this past Wed. Just got the pathology reports- NO evidence of intrusive cancer anywhere in the colon tissue they removed. NO evidence of invasive cancer in any of the lymph nodes. I need NO further treatment - just to heal from this surgery. They were not able to do any genetic testing of the tissue they removed b/c it had no cancer in it. They did do some with the cancer in the polyp but it didn't show any evidence of any genetic abnormalities. I will still go through w/ the genetic testing in May. Doc wants me to have some routine physicals every 3 months for now and then my colonoscopy in a year!!

Its bittersweet when I see so many going through so much more. I'm grateful thatI went in when I did. I had been ignoring blood in my stool for a while and was kicking myself for not going sooner but clearly I got myself in in enough time in the overall scheme of things!

For this Colon Cancer awareness month I'm trying to spread the word to anyone I know to get their butt looked at if they have any weird issues!!

I pray for you on here often! thank you for questions answered, suggestions, comforts.

I will! I will never put anything off again! heck in between my diagnosis and my surgery I had a pap, every mole on my body looked at, and an u/s of my uterus and ovaries b/c of some questions I had. Everything is fine but Iwill certainly keep regular with all of that stuff! Its worth it!! If I had gone in over a year ago I might have just needed the polyp removed and that's it. I got lucky- for sure..... but waiting had its consequence. I was having symptoms. classic ones.. ignoring was foolish of me!

WHAT!?!?!?
You missed all the fun of chemo and radiation?? :D :D

That's great news, I'm so glad somebody caught it that early and gets to 'retire' somewhat from this journey.

thank you!

I will keep regular with appointments trust me! heck I'd get scoped monthly iftheyd let me!

I have been encouraging people to get scoped. People have asked me many questions lately about "little things" and I keep saying "go get examined!" heck my good friend from high school is an oncologist who told me to go to the doctor a year ago and ignored her. yeah she's slapped me upside the head a bit.

My Mom is in her early 60s and has not had a colonoscopy yet. She's making her appointment as soon as she comes home from helping out here- so that's one person so far!
