Bad News today

Postby dianetavegia » Fri Mar 02, 2012 1:06 pm

Bad News: The blood work results that I got were not correct. My CEA went from 4.5 (never was below 4.0 after chemo tho they NEVER told me) to 6.4.. The CT scan shows a growth on my liver. I'll have a liver biopsy next Tuesday then have a test to see if there is cancer in my lungs. If not, they'll take out a portion of my liver. I'm heart broken and VERY discouraged.
Stage III cc surgery 1/7/09. 12 tx FOLFOX
Stage IV PET = 1.5cm liver met. HR 4/11/12

I am sorry about your bad news ... hoping it's limited to the single growth in your liver and that resection takes care of it for you. Prayers for complete healing. Keep strong.

Very sorry to hear your news. You joined the club just as I was being diagnosed. It is especially difficult to deal with after being 3 years in the clear. The good news is that if it is cancer, it is likely to be small, well-contained and can be treated surgically. If I recall correctly, patients who recur later tend to do better for these very reasons.

Wishing you the best,
Jeremy

Hallo Diane, I am so sorry to hear this. Our thoughts and prayers be with you. Pete already got 2 liver ops. I can remember how I felt when we heard it the first time that it spread after being 2,5 years NED.

Best wishes and love from our side!
Ilse and Peter
After 8,5 years living with CRC, Pete passed away on 17/4/2012. We had lots of quality time, we said our goodbyes! I am at peace because he doesn't suffer anymore! He is now better off with the Lord! We will surely miss him very very much!!

I am so sorry to hear the news. The good news is that you can have liver resection if needed. Why liver biopsy though? Can they do Pet scan instead. When my CEA went up in November, I had Pet scan and the met on my liver light up, so we know that I had recurrence. I had liver resection #2 in December and I am on Irinotecan and chemo in Hai pump since January.
I will keep you in my prayers.
Much love,
Maria

Sorry to hear bad news after three years NED, but it seems tentative. Nodes on the liver identified on CT scan can be many things. Hopefully, follow-up assessments will be soothing; but, if it is cancer, maybe it could be easily removed through surgery or ablation.

Diane, I'm so sorry to hear this -- it's been fun riding your coattails as you lead the cheers in the Stage III thread! We'll continue to say prayers for healing and for continued good health (outside of this crappy new development, of course), and will keep you in our thoughts.

Oh Diane! Not after 3 years! I know that is very disheartening, but we will all be hoping for the best and an easy treatment and resolution.

Diane, I am so sorry to hear about this. You were always someone I looked at that seemed to be doing so well. And, you know what, you will be again. There are many of us on here that have made it through to the other side of a recurrence. Once you get your plan in place you will get back to where you were yesterday. :)

Diane,
You have been there for me giving such wonderful hope. Prayers for your upcoming tests. Is the biopsy because the doctors are not sure what is on the ct?????
Prayers for you as you navigate this "bump" in the road. Keep the Faith. I sent a PM with a personal message of prayer.
Prayers,
