Clear PET Scan

Postby NWgirl » Tue Jan 31, 2012 5:12 pm

I got the results of last weeks PET scan today - NED. The spots on my lungs are still there, but they have not changed in size and there is no uptake. That's just about the best news I could have possibly hoped for. You'd think I'd be dancing for joy - and I am, really, inside. But I'm really, really tired and I have a headache. My oncologist said if the headaches haven't resolved by my next appt. we'll do an MRI on my brain to make sure the Avastin isn't causing them. My blood pressure and urine are both fine, so we know Avastin isn't causing problems in those areas. Last weeks PET scan included my head, and nothing lit up - so that's good. The plan is still chemo for life - another reason I'm not doing a major happy dance. My oncologist feels since my cancer is systemic - it's likely still there; just not big enough to show up on a scan.

But I'm not complaining. At a minimum this buys me more time and that's what I want. What we all want - more time.

Wow Belle, so glad to hear the news about your scan results, that you got what you were hoping for. I appreciate that you have mixed feelings about the on-going chemo, but you seem to be taking a "glass half-full" approach to it. May your ongoing treatments be smooth and successful!

I'm happy to hear about your good results, and I also understand your ambivalence. But yes, more time is good. I hope it will be LOTS more time.

Hope you can get some relief from the headaches soon. Maybe you'll feel more like dancing when they subside. :)

Belle,

I am so happy for your news. I realize the chemo for life feelings you are having (and the dang physical side effects from treatment) are tempering your feelings but oh my goodness - I vaguely recall that you thought "stable" would be good news. NED is so much more than that.

Still one day at a time I know but I'm with CRGuy and doing a little happy dance for you. :-)
