I recently returned from a camping trip to Bruce Penninsula National Park in Tobermory. Saw the five, the grotto and flowerpot island. Amazing beauty! Highly recommend it if you haven't been!

Hello
Is there any update for approval of Keytruda or Opdivo for msi-H CrC by Health Canada now that it has been approved by FDA in USA?
What sort of time lag is there normally for such approvals.
Regards.

Welcome to CTalk Henry
that is a million$$$$ question regarding HC !

depending upon provincial "rules" and how they play into overall HC regs....
there may be some access under compassionate care / experimental release IF there is a particularly good, pro-active and aggressive doctor in the loop who can navigate the systems for you... and this would apply to all "new" treatments and drugs.

IME ... each province / cancer center etc. seems to be its own minefield OR field of dreams depending upon the factors mentioned.

Specifically though, a September 27, 2017 announcement Keytruda Approved as First-Line Lung Cancer Treatment in Canada states a specific use acceptance for one application :
“Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for both men and women in Canada, which makes this new indication especially significant. We look forward to working with provinces and other jurisdictions to ensure that Canadians who need immunotherapy for first-line treatment of metastatic NSLC have rapid access to Keytruda,” Chirfi Guindo, president and managing director of Merck Canada (known as MSD outside the U.S. and Canada),

How quickly this availability will translate to other indications is anybody's guess.

ANY OTHER Canucks with any other info please chime in !

Cheers

Henry, here is the link about Keytruda, not sure if it answers your question:
https://lungdiseasenews.com/2017/09/26/ ... ed-canada/

Steph20021, last summer I went to Tobermory, what a beutyfull place, pristine water, one could see those shipwrecks that went down in 1885, islands are geourges, a lots of hiking possibilities.
Last summer was very hot, but lake was refreshing, went swimming few times, my younger one loved it.
55 year at the time of diagnosis, male
Diagnosed with T1,T2 N0 M0 rectal cancer
Total neoadjuvant therapy or TNT (chemoradiation followed by systemic chemotherapy)
Negative since Feb. '17
No surgery
Watch&Wait approach 8)
I don’t come much to the forum , so if this is not updated it means I remain negative!
Wish good luck to all!

Thanks Maia
Yes with these 2 involved there WILL be YVR and T.O. for sure !
Investigators
Study Chair: Lillian Siu Univ. Health Network-OCI/Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, ON Canada
Study Chair: Daniel J Renouf BCCA - Vancouver Cancer Centre, Vancouver BC, Canada

With the "kitchen sink" of medications for their study groups, they are basically cataloguing these different treatments' effects within given
investigational arms .... just IMO ... for future referencing of possible novel treatments with known agents, for nonstandard uses.
While the list mainly targets hemolymphatic cancers, the inclusion of Advanced Solid Tumors opens the door for others.

The POG program really kick started a whole new brain trust at BCCA Vancouver and FYI a lot of the Foundation fundraising has been promoting immunotherapies as well as this type of targeted therapy research. ANY cancer Tx advancements will ultimately benefit other fields of research and treatment.

GOOD things to come for Colorectal Canucks ... close to home.

Cheers

I registered at a couple of Canadian CC web sites/forums and found them useless.
Now we are getting one more of these?
58 yo male at diagnosis: T1bN0M0, 0/15 nodes, low grade/moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma
03/2016 colonoscopy: 2 small polyps removed in left colon; CEA = 1.3
04/2016 colonoscopy: caecum sessile 3.5 cm polyp piecemeal removed with kind of clear margins
05/2016 "prophylactic" laparoscopic right hemicolectomy - bleeding, leak, infection
06/2017 CT scan, colonoscopy OK; CEA = 1.6
A lot of funny stuff discovered by CT scans in liver, kidney, lungs, arteries, gallbladder, lymph node, pancreas
