Supremely romantic idea UPDATE

Postby Bev G » Mon Jan 23, 2012 1:53 pm

Hi all:

Steve finally got his chemo port put in this morning, and the bone marrow biopsy done (newbie explanation: I have stage IV CRC, husband got diagnosed a couple of weeks ago with stage IV lymphoma, not yet fully characterized). I am utterly flummoxed that the pathology is still not back from Mass General, and just can't figure out what to do about it. I am thinking of asking my onc to get it back and send it directly to MD Anderson. This node was removed 3 weeks ago Wednesday. I am also concerned because it looks to me that Steve is actually becoming somewhat cachectic, even though he is eating well. He's gone from 225 on 12/2 to 185 yesterday. It's very worrisome to me, and I have ordered some protein supplement (Unjury) and trying to give him all the calories I can.

But, here's the romantic part of "couples cancer" as I am liking to call it these days  Steve and I are having back-to-back PET/CTs on Thursday. I was thinking we should draw straws about who would drive (ie the non-driver gets to take the pre-scan Ativan) Seriously though, he can't drive, and I hate driving, so I think I'm calling a cab, and by the time we're done, my son will be off work and can bring us home. We have to be there at 6am for Steve's scan, and even in the best of all possible worlds, I simply couldn't tolerate driving that early (and without COFFEE? no way!)

I apologize if I've already posted some of this information?? Now I'm thinking I have. It sounds so familiar, but that could be because it's what's up around here, if you know what I mean? Sorry, I'm a little out of it these days.

Thanks again for all the loving support. You guys are the greatest. Any prayers and chickens for the scans Thursday would be simply excellent, and very much appreciated.

With much love,

Bev

Swinging a whole flock of chickens for you two!

And yes to the cab - or maybe check with your local American Cancer Society office and see if there are drivers available through their volunteer program.

Thursday will be my "good vibes for Bev" day. :)

Bev...

I'm totally with you on the driving. I hate driving also but have been doing it because my husband can't and i'm not liking it because he's a backseat driver.

Best of luck to you and Steve...I will be praying for good results....

Good luck in the scans!
I'm just a dude who still can't believe he had a resection and went through chemo (currently 13 years NED). Is this real life?
