He had metastatic prostate cancer that got out of hand a month or two ago. It was tough to watch him become debilitated, but the end was fairly quick and I don't think he suffered much. The home hospice folks were pretty good.
I'm doing OK. We were very close, but as a Stage 4 cancer patient myself, I could pretty much see the writing on the wall in his case, so this didn't come as a great shock. And I think I've already done most of my mourning. Maybe not.
What did come as a shock to me was how quickly he went from being outwardly healthy and active, to very weak and debilitated. Once the cancer got on top of him, there wasn't much anyone could do. That's sobering.
That's all. I know some of you know about our close relationship and my dad's disease, so I thought you'd want to know.
Thanks.
