My strongest thoughts, BB.
The process of mourning can take longer than we think, and memories can surprise and renew the grief on their own schedule. Be patient with yourself.

Deepest sympathy from a lurker who has always appreciated your humor, honesty and attitude. Your father was fortunate to have such a son. May his memory be a blessing.

My condolences Eric. It is a double whammy for you to lose your dad to cancer and to be fighting this disease yourself.

I'm so sorry. It feels like all this happened incredibly fast. I'm glad the end was peaceful for him, and that you have so many years of good memories to sustain you. As others have said, things will pop up from time to time and surprise you (I still have difficult moments, and I lost my father more than 30 years ago). But those are the times when the close relationship you had will be your biggest asset, because you'll be able to remember something good and move forward.

You and your family are in my thoughts.

I'm so sorry for your loss Eric. I'm glad you were to visit him not to long ago so you had that time to remember. Things can change very quickly with this cancer, I've seen it a few times unfortunately.

Cherish all of your memories and he'll always be there with you through those memories and in your heart.

My deepest sympathy to your mom, you and your family.
