Post Surgical and at Home Recovery Hints

Postby finnegan » Sun Sep 25, 2005 2:50 pm

My 88-year-old father has just be diagnosed and will have surgery next week. I'm looking for some helpful hints that any of you may have to help with at home recovery, gizmos to have on hand (sock aid, grabber, etc.), things that the doctor/hospital don' cover. Thanks in advance for your help

I recommend balmex and baby wipes. After i got home my poor bottom was really agaitated and these little things helped me alot, with all of the bathroom breaks. I also recommend a book called chicken soup for the survivors soul, tons of stories about recovery and stuff like that. It totally helped me to read it, gave me an optimistic view on the diease. :P

Well winter is fast approaching, I would recommend warm socks and mittens, they are both priceless! Also, plenty of rest. When tired, rest. It is our bodies way of healing! Be well and know that you are in my prayers! Big Hugs!
