Hi everyone,
Hope you are all seeing signs of Spring. In PA the snow is gone and I am hoping to see a crocus or two start blooming soon. DH continues on chemo, will have round 10 on Wed. He is hoping to be done after the next round. He has the one lung met left. Too small for RT, bad spot for IR treatments, bad spot for surgery without risking a lobectomy. We will meet with the oncologist next week to find out when the next scan is and what is next. We are expecting a break after his last round. And then we wait. And hope nothing new comes up. His work is getting very stressful, his company was sold and the new company does not feel they need him or the product he sold and has made that pretty clear. They just offered a voluntary severance package and he is thinking about taking it. And then starting his own business. Great (I saw with sarcasm in my voice). I don't think now is the time to start his own business. On the other hand life is too short to not love what you do.

Hope everyone is doing well. It's been a long cold winter. The flowers have just started blooming here. A week after Easter....
We got some pretty good news - DH is cancer free right now. The lung met that we were watching has no activity on PET scan. Nothing new. He is getting 6 months of 5FU+Leukovorin+Avastin for maintenance. He is getting a CT in 6 weeks - there is a spot on the PET on the left lobe where he had surgery that the thoracic surgeon is confident is just inflammation but wants to make sure.
DH is getting himself back in shape, exercising daily, eating healthy. We are really looking forward to his daughters graduation from law school in a month. After almost a year and a half, I feel like we can breathe. Still really worried about the spot they are watching, but hoping this is really nothing.

Angela n. Yes spring makes us all feel better and the flowers always give me hope. Hoping the spot is nothing also. Sounds like like life is going on as it should. Hope things just keep getting better and better. Congrats on the graduation from law school. That's quite an accomplishment! Prayers for all. Sharon

I hope I don't come across as the major downer today, but need somewhere to share my fear and loneliness. I had to take down the beautiful fence my husband built around our home on the ranch 16 years ago. It was all falling apart now as it has not been kept up very well since hubby became ill. While dismantling it (and there is a lot of fence) I could catch views of my poor hubby lying in bed as he is now just about totally bedridden. I became sadder than I have been since his DX over 6 years ago.

I don't cry as a rule (I mist up a little, but will not let go), but I was as close to weeping as I can ever remember. We have a wonderful support group in our town, and I have a group of friends who are helping with re-fencing. I just don't think they would understand why a fence has so much sentimental value...but it does. My hubby built that fence because I read him the riot act about wire fencing...yes we have some, but not in view of our home. And that was directly due to the fact that my husband loved me enough to spend countless hours building this beautiful fence that is now gone.

OK...sorry all...just needed to get that written down and shared with people who might understand

Hi. I don't check in much anymore, I find it like diving into a too cold pool. But I often think of all the wives and caretakers that are out there doing their daily tasks of showing love. Huggs to you all.

Mich, I don't think there is a way to extract out just LA folks on this thread, but maybe start a new thread with a very specific subject? Good luck.

I'm a husband of a beautiful wife, married for 25 years, diagnosed with Stage 1 colon cancer. I can't imagine how it must be facing Stage 4, Stage 1 is hard enough, we are Day 9 post op LAR, all has gone exceptionally well so far. This site has helped us learn so much and me cope. Thanks for allowing a loving husband to post. Good luck to all
