@TC...please accept my sympathies for the loss of your husband. Though a shortened amount of time since diagnosis I am glad that you shared some quality of time w/o chemo. It must be a comfort that you both had your 40th anniversary together.

Again, my condolences on the loss of your DH

TC sorry to hear about your husband passing. It sounds like he left you a last special moment to remember. I know it doesn't make it any easier but that is a special gift that he gave you with love.

God Bless and keep you.

I have been reading but not saying much lately. My DH has been through a rough patch. He had radiation beads placed on his liver to stop the growth of a 4.0 cm lesion that was found. He would't let them do surgery. We had a rough month but so far so good. Then a MRI and CT done and well four new lesion found on the lung and surgery and radiation is out because he previously had radiation done. So its RA or chemo. Chemo is out he just doesn't handle it and it takes away his quality of life. So the tumor board is going to review it and see what we should do. His eating habits have change and he is losing weight. But he has no pain and looks good, If only everyone could see whats going on inside maybe they would understand just how hard this is. Some times I just want to scream "Just find a cure!" We should be enjoying life not waiting for what is a round the next Ct and MRI.

Sorry just feeling a little down tonight.

TC -

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your dear husband. The angels have received him in heaven.

It's amazing how people hold on over the holidays, isn't it? My husband died this past June which is obviously not holiday season, but he asked me one day if I would mind if he quit fighting. I told him no, that he should do what was best for him. He passed away a week later.

You're going to be too busy and too emotional for awhile to deal with your own needs, but once the dust settles carve out some time to be kind to yourself. I was laid off from my job three months after my husband's death, and I was so upset about it. But things have worked out and, more importantly, I have been given the time to reflect on all that has happened over the 3.5 years since Danny was diagnosed. It has allowed me to grieve. Yet grief is the flip side of love and I'm finding it comforting as I remember how wonderful he was. It takes awhile to remember life pre-cancer.

Many (((HUGS))).

Hard to believe it's been three years...but now I smile at what used to bring tears. Continue to keep y'all close to my heart and in my thoughts and prayers. (((Hugs)))
Grateful for ‪#‎FaithFamilyFriends‬ ‪#‎FinishStrong‬

HOLDING HANDS
1. They met in the Air Force
Best friends from the start
As they spent time together
Love bloomed in their hearts
While walking in the evening
When walking in the day
They smiled as they talked and held hands
(chorus)
Holding hands
Dancing in the practice hall
They held hands
Walking to a game or thru the mall
To show him she was with him
To let her know he cared
They held hands
2. But sacrifice is common
When you serve the common good
They heard the news they didn't want
But always knew they could
While walking in the evening
When walking in the day
They prepared to be apart and held hands
(chorus)
Reaching hands
Across the miles on every call
Empty hands
Praying for an end to it all
Still together in their hearts
Waiting and praying for the day
They could hold hands
3. Soon two years were over
She was finally coming home
Thru letters and phone calls
Their love had only grown
Meeting in the airport
And walking to the car
They treasured time together and held hands
4. Twenty-three years of marriage
Kept the commitment strong
Building a family
As three children came along
Modeling love and values
And helping them grow strong
Seeing their parents holding hands
(bridge)
They stared in disbelief at the doctor
Not wanting to hear what he said
The disease was too aggressive
Soon he could be dead
All too early, all too young, six months to a year
They cried and prayed together and held hands
They cried and prayed together and held hands
5. Too painful too be hugged or touched
His cancer quickly spread
Hours talking and planning
For when she'd be alone instead
As he slept in the evenings
As he took his final breaths
She knelt down beside him and held hands
(chorus)
Holding hands
As he slipped the bonds of earth
They held hands
Showing what true love is worth
As he entered heaven's glory
And as she said good-bye
With tears in her eyes she let him go
Holding hands
They held hands
As he took his Father's hand
Holding hands
When she didn't understand
As she went on without him
Memories would make her smile
Of times they were together and held hands
Of times she remembered holding hands.
When they held hands
