A fun quiz for patients: What kind of doc would you be?

Postby Gaelen » Tue Dec 14, 2010 10:42 am

Blogthings sends out fun, sometimes silly, daily quizzes on all sorts of topics.
Today's quiz is called "What kind of doctor should you be?"

Kind of fun, got the answer I'd expect for me (general practice, radiology or orthopedics. ;) ) But silly as these quizzes sometimes are, these questions do make you think...

You would be a practical doctor. You're the kind of person who's concerned with facts and figures.
As a doctor, you would be up on the latest research and take detailed notes about your patients.
You would be just as concerned with keeping your patients healthy through preventative medicine as you would with curing them.
You would be well suited to being an orthopedic surgeon or radiologist. You would also do well running a general practice.
Be in harmony with your expectations. - Life Out Loud

You Would Be a Sympathetic Doctor
You are a natural caretaker, and people tend to immediately feel at ease with you.
As a doctor, you would be known for your bedside manner and calm approach with patients.

You would feel genuine concern for your patients. Your patients' comfort would be just as important as their health.
You would be well suited for being an anesthesiologist or pediatrician. You would also be ideal for running a general practice.

I got the same answer as Jessica but.....now get this. For whatever reason that I don't remember now, I had decided when I was in fourth grade that I wanted to be a pediatric anesthesiologist. Why that?? I can't remember. Anyway, in HS, got to volunteer with a family friend (a radiologist) who was head of the radiology dept at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma as a year long 'senior project'. Loved every minute of it and back then, you could see way more things than you can nowadays. Got to watch surgery on children and was more committed than ever to being a pediatric anesthesiolgist. Enrolled at BU (even toyed with the idea of their 6 year BA/MD program) as a Biology major with every intention of pursuing my 'dream' of being a doctor. Didn't, however, like all the courses I had to take and was really disillusioned with the whole plan that it entailed. I thought that studying plants, bugs, etc. was irrelevant and quit - changed my major to Economics (emphasis on health care economics - my senior thesis dealt with the duplication of services at major hospitals in the same area) with a minor in Accounting. Anyway, I totally fit into the category that they 'assigned' to me - a pediatrician and/or anestheiologist!

I got the same as Jessica and Jaynee. I thought there would be a lot more questions to determine the answer.

Kind of like Bev's results, only with "plastic surgeon" as a third option. Plastic surgeon?!

You Would Be an Intuitive Doctor
Facts and figures matter to you, but you also tend to go with your intuition.
As a doctor, you would shine when making difficult decisions - even when things weren't clear cut.

You would be an insightful doctor right off the bat, and as you gained experience, your insight would multiply.
You would be well suited to being a psychiatrist, cardiologist, or plastic surgeon.

Fun quiz. :-)

Same results as Jessica and Jaynee - sympathetic - pediatrician, anesthesiologist, or general practice (all of which sound very, very different to me!)

I got the same answer as you Gaelen:) If I could choose, I'd be a vet. Working with people is to complicated. If I was a doctor it would not involve children. I couldn't stand it if I took care of a child and they died. Urgent Care doc would be good for me. You don't get emotionally attached.

Wow CRguy, that was right on!

You are a very rational person, and it's nearly impossible for you to be swayed by emotions.
As a doctor, you would let logic be your guide. And with it, you'd find some ingenious remedies and cures.

You are a natural problem solver. And you never give up until the problem is solved.
You would be well suited to being a neurologist, pathologist, or oncologist.
