I wish we could keep this wonderful thread permanently on the front page. I am 5 months post chemo and still have plenty of chemo brain...really, plenty of it. Either that, or I am developing Alzheimers (it runs in my family and scares the sh*t out of me).
I went to my PCP a few days ago. I hadn't been there in a year, which he gave me ALL kinds of crap about. Uh, sorry, I've been a little tied up with other stuff. I mentioned something about something being harder because of chemobrain (of course, I can't remember what it was, because I, uh, have chemobrain
) and he actually said to me that there's no chemobrain, it's all about stress. I have to reduce my stress. Really??!!?? Then he sang a couple verses of Kumbaya to me, gave me some more crap about where was my cane ("You wear your seat belt, don't you?) and reminded me that it's impossible to eradicate all the microscopic cancer cells that are circulating in my body. Oh, OK then, and thanks for that. Little Mr Sunshine. So, I explain to him that chemobrain has actually been scientifically documented with PET scans (or MRIs or whatever), that my CTC test was negative (what's that?), etc, etc. And by the way, don't you think I should get a bone density scan since my Vit D was only 7.2? Oh, that's a good idea. Gee, thanks for everything, Doc. Try not to get cancer, you might have to do some reading
