Power of the Colondar

Postby Edward » Tue Jun 12, 2007 8:00 am

For some reason on another thread, viewers have been making accusations of possible pornography and exploitation. The mission of Colondar is to educate people in crazy ways. 90% of all colorectal cases occur after age 50.

In 2005, 12 brave women gave their story to the world to raise awareness and educate the world that this is not an old person's disease. Diagnosed with the disease myself at age 36 in 2002, I felt I had something taken away from me in the prime of my life.

After seeing the Colondar and meeting some of the models, you realize that only lose you power if you let the disease take it. For the original 12 models, (I could only guess at this point), after being poked, resected, scarred, pouched, chemoed, radiated they had a better feeling of themselves both physically and mentally.

I continue to do advocacy in Pennsylvania in regards to education and Pennsylvania adopting screening legislation. I can honestly say the 2005 Colondar and their subsequent editions changed my life. Hopefully the 2008 Colondar will continue to inspire others.

hi edward,

i think the colonder is wonderful and reading stories and seeing photos of people under the age of 50 such as myself battling this cancer is a big help especially after like you said being poked, prodded, chemod, radiated, and in my case i looked like i was gutted like a fish with my new scars across my stomach as do many others and as a youngish woman who liked to hang on the beach in a bikini i get kind of sad that my stomach looks like frankenstein, and then i think well it is better then the alternative. not that im glad that anyone has cancer, but it helps when you know your not alone and there are others out there the same age going through the same things. i applaud all the models past and present and in the future i hope im brave enough to volunteer myself it is a great project and a big help.
