HPNCC and Stage 3 Colon Cancer Treatments

Postby Colon2007 » Tue Jun 05, 2007 7:51 pm

Dear Everyone,

I pray and hope that we alll get through this together and with great determination, with laughter and love in our lives and most of all trusting in our Lord and being positive no matter what.

My husband was diagnozed with Stage 3 CC and he tested positive for the HPNCC gene. He is set to begin chemotherapy next week and I was wondering what treatments anyone here has received for HPNCC and for stage 3 or for either one alone.

Thank you all for your tremendous help and loving kindness to help others in the most diificult time of their lives.

May God Bless you all always to recover fully with complete and excellent health always,

Thank you,
Colon 2007

Hi Colon 2007,
I have never been tested for hnpcc but I suspect i should have . Genetic testing is still not widely used in Australia. I was dx with st3c colon cancer at age 48. I initially had most of my descending colon removed ,the ca had spread to 6 lymph nodes. I was tried on 5fu and leucovorin ,which nearly killed me. I then went on to 5fu and levamisole ,which I had weekly for 48 weeks.
If I make it to Jan22 2008 I will have my ten years of ca free survival up. I have had scopes on average every 18 mos and have had several more polyps removed ,hnpcc? The last scope was in november when they removed two 2mm polyps ,one of which had precancerous changes. I wish your husband and yourself the very best of fortune. I am not sure if you can actually beat cancer but I'm living proof that you can give it a real run for it's money, Ron.
