cea is only good for people who showed elevation at diagnosis. i was diagnosed stage 4, 1 year ago with a cea of 2. it is now 1.5 when i get a test for it which is not often because it is not a good marker for me. normal is up to 5. anything over 5 is elevated but different things can cause some elevation including chemo. anyone diagnosed with colon cancer with a normal cea should get further testing. i almost walked away from doc thinking i was fine because my cea was normal not knowing i had 3 small spots on my liver. good thing for the cat scan.
