Colon cancer stem cells drug?

Postby minolfa » Sat Sep 25, 2010 9:28 am

Research about colon cancer stem cells always intrigued me....these cells are said to be resistant to chemos
by definition...I read that this resistance was mediated by expression of Interleukin 4 and that
treatment with an IL 4 receptor antagonist induced sensitization of cancer stem cells to chemo...
then I read about a monoclonal antibody against a cancer stem cells marker (CD133/prominin) being studied..
now I am reading about Dr. Lenz trialing a cancer stem cells drug called PRI724IND....
has anyone more info about colon cancer stem cells?
some researchers are not sure these cells exist !
hoping and praying for better treatments
