Gerry Potter, interesting story in the war on cancer

Postby pleistocene » Fri Sep 10, 2010 10:00 pm

Today, news came out that a phase III trial for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer unblinded, meaning that the drug being investigated was so effective that they could no longer just give the other arm a placebo. The drug is called Abiraterone Acetate. It was discovered by a man named Gerry Potter. His work battling cancer and how difficult it has been to get his discoveries to patients has literally driven him insane. He also believes that abiraterone isn't the biggest cancer fighter he's developed. Another drug called DMU 212, he believes is the real powerhouse that can revolutionize cancer treatment.
