I have lurked here for many months after my mom was dx with crc...Although posting is not something I feel comfortable with I could not ignore Johns passing w/o saying a word. I feel very sad this day and wish to express my condolences to his family...John was one of a kind, as we each are...

Dear Linda,

My deepest condolences to you and your family. John was so welcoming to everyone on this board and so knowledgable too - he will be missed as he helped so many of us with this dreadful disease. I can't imagine what you are feeling right now but please know that we are here as a support to you should you ever want to come ask, vent, and cry online. My prayers are with you all. May John rest in peace.

Oh Linda,

My heart broke when I logged on to this site today. John and I were neighbors (I'm in Massachusetts). He was so generous in providing me with information about his experiences with Dana Farber in Boston. And I loved that he was a Red Sox fan.

I will keep you and your family in my prayers and in my heart. All my love,

Ann

How sad to learn the news that John has lost his hard fought battle. I admired and respected his fighting spirit and gentle heart. He was so kind and helpful to me on many occasions and I loved him for it. Rest in peace John our friend.

I am so very sad to hear this news, Linda. Your John was a beacon of light on this board. It always cheered me up to see his smiling face with his baseball cap on at the stadium. It's really quite amazing how you can sometimes develop a feeling of familiarity about a person you have never met in person, just from their posts on a message board, but with John it was not hard at all. Besides his kindness and politeness with everyone, he was just so "real". As I said once before, he was "one cool customer" and he did this cancer journey with class. I hope and pray that the awesome example and loving kindness that we saw him exhibit here are also things that will make the coming time more bearable for you and your children, and the rest of John's loved ones.

I salute you, John 603. Peace out.

Dear Linda and Family,
My heart sank when I read your post..then my eyes filled with tears. No. Oh no. My husband only posted here once or twice before his passing in May, but John was the one he referred to with me, the one he asked me about, one of the ones who always gave such help to him. John inspired Stephen, right up to the end. Linda, if you want to PM me, please do, at some point. I would love to talk to you via email or phone. I'm sorry. Stephen passed away this May, and the road has been bumpy. My husband was the ultimate optimist - as I viewed John- and maybe I can help you Linda if ever you'd like to talk together.

Linda and family, I am at a total loss of words. John was one of those whose advice we all sought after. His plethora of knowledge had no bounds when it came to cancer and treatments. His sense of humor and profound compassion he had for others was so obvious.

Our sincerest condolences to you and your family.

Please, come back and let us know how you're all doing. John was a part of our family, just as you are.

Love and Hugs,
