Surgery is postponed because my doctor WHAT?!?

Postby Phuong » Tue Jul 27, 2010 12:33 pm

Yup. Fell off a horse a few weeks ago and cracked a couple of ribs. Why couldn't he be like the other doctors and just play golf? His NP called me on Friday and said soooo, you're *supposed* to have surgery on Thursday, right? Well...we're going to have to postpone a couple of weeks. I could be referred to another surgeon, but this one is the best, knows all my history, and did my first liver surgery. I think that's the only reason he's living to tell his tale :!:

Well...it's better than what happened to my SIL. She was scheduled for a long awaited colonoscopy...then a few weeks before her scheduled appt she was called and told her GI doctor died. Yes, died. She had to wait another 6 mos or so till they found another doctor!

MY 43 year old brother had open heart surgery wih a quadruple by-pass in March. He loved his cardiologist. Brother called about a month ago...he was supposed to go in for an appointment the next day. The doctor's office called. His cardiologist had a massive heart attack and died on the way to his son's graduation. Irony abounds.

Not the call you expect to receive is it. I guess we forget that doctors are human too....well most of them anyway;) I hope he heals quickly so you can quit thinking about the upcoming surgery and get it done. I would hate the waiting!

I love horseback riding too, so I can't blame the guy. Although I'll have to admit - I didn't see him as the horseback riding type. The worst of it truly is the waiting though. You psyche yourself up and start the countdown to D-Day and then it kind of takes the wind out of your sails. At least it happened a few weeks ago, not the day before my surgery.
