Rollin' to Colon 2010

Postby nebraskamel » Thu Jun 24, 2010 10:38 pm

There are only 5 cities named Colon in the United States, and we have one of them in Nebraska. This Sunday we are hosting Rollin' to Colon.

This exciting event is hosted by the Great Plains Colon Cancer Task Force and Wear Yellow Nebraska and features varying cycling distances beginning in Valley, Nebraska.

Why we ride:
Colorectal cancer is the 3rd most commonly diagnosed cancer and the 2nd leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. With regular screening, colorectal cancer can be found early when treatment is most effective.

See www.rollintocolon.org!

Just keepin' y'all in the loop.

Just want to be sure that props are given to Holly Rochelle (one of our 2007 Colondar models) for starting this back in...2006?

Good luck Melissa! I'll be thinking of you guys...and hoping for no snow this time around! ;)

Molly - thanks for the reminder that this was Holly's brainchild. Yes, indeed, she coordinated the first one in March, maybe 4, 5, or 6 years ago? And, yes, indeed, snow occurred. That's Nebraska weather for you. March can bring anything at all, which is why we opted to schedule this one in June.

Great time! Great weather - overcast, 70's, nice breeze. More than 50 people showed up to register today, so add that to our 140 pre-registrations and we ended up with nearly 200 riders! More than 200 participated including all our great volunteers.
