SAMFund accepting grant & scholarship applications

Postby Molly » Mon Jun 21, 2010 9:16 pm

We are excited to announce that Part I of The SAMFund's Grant & Scholarship application is now up on our website (http://thesamfund.org/pages/grants.html)! It will be available until Monday, July 12th at 5pm EST. You may submit it anytime during these four weeks, and will be notified by August 9th whether or not you have been invited to complete Part II of the application. In order to be eligible to submit an application, you must be between 17 and 35 years old, done with your active treatment, and living in the U.S.

Please take a look at the FAQs before applying: http://thesamfund.org/pages/grants/applicationfaqs.html
Some important changes:

This year, The SAMFund will not be accepting requests for undergraduate tuition. There are many other organizations that provide undergraduate tuition scholarships, and we have attached a spreadsheet of other resources that includes many of them. We are, however, still accepting requests for vocational training, graduate tuition, any kind of student loan repayment, or other school-related expenses (such as computers, books and supplies). See our Categories of Funding document posted next to the link to the application on our website or copy and paste this link into your browser: http://thesamfund.org/pages/grants/cofunding.html.

You may also have noticed that we are now referring to this part of the process as "Part I of the Application" rather than "Letter of Intent (LOI)." The questions are very similar, but this part of the application is now entirely in a survey format. The link on the website will now redirect you to Survey Monkey-- a secure, online program-- where you will complete and submit the application.

If you have any questions, please let us know. You will get a quicker response emailing us than you will by calling, so please email grants@thesamfund.org with questions and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
Thanks and good luck!

The SAMFund
