Dick recovering in ICU

Hi Everyone,
Dick went into surgery at 10:00. He was in until 1:20. Dr. Genyk came out and said they got the lymph node and margins looked good. As we thought, the node was positive for cancer. He did leave some markers in case they decide on radiation down the road. Everything else looked clear. He said that the connection site between the large and small intestine was stretched out. So, he cut it out and redid the connection. That is not something we expected but I think it is good that they did it to avoid future complications.
I am in ICU with Dick right now and he is talking and seems good. I will drive to Orange County tonight and stay at my folks house and then drive back to LA tomorrow and stay with Dick once they move him into a regular room.

Have they recommended more chemo at this point?

Hoping Dick has a speedy recover.
Stage IV: dx 8/07 at 39.. colon & liver resection & rt ovary
17 rounds of folfox.
12/08 ovary tumor removed with HIPEC & folfiri w/Avastin
9/11 liver resection # 2 followed by chemo
NED

Have Hope with Capitol H

Speedy recovery indeed, glad the surgery went well
11/13/09 5cm Stage IV 9/25 lymph nodes w/2cm peritoneal met at 29 YoA
12/15/09 LA right hemi-colectomy
6/16/10 Folfox FINISHED
8/10/10 Prophylactic HIPEC
10/9/10 got Married :D
Still NED and living life to the fullest

I'm happy to hear the surgeon nailed that node! I hope recovery goes just as well...

Thinking of you both as he is recovering. Sounds like the surgery to fix the connection was a wise thing.

That is so great! May he have a continued recovery without complications.
