Cycle #2 completed

Postby Natty » Sat May 01, 2010 6:09 pm

Hi Guys

Treatment #2 was completed on Thursday 29/04 for my bestfriend and his only complaint so far is fatigue..he has slept most of the day and is having only about 10 mins of energy from what he said in his last message to me, just advised him to keep drinking his fluids and get as much rest a necessary..don't try to fight his fatigue or push himself.

Well I'm hoping tomorrow will offer a little strength and energy since it will be going into his 4th day but all I can do is think..dream and continue to pray for him..

Oh boy I was in high hopes today would have been better for him but instead he sent me a message about 5 mins ago saying today was rough..he vomit this morning and has no urge to eat anything at all..now I feel so bad..I swear fletch and bagger you guys are so right the care givers shed more tears than the actual patient

I wish I could say or do something to ease his situation but wow is all I can say...

Where did this stupid disease had to come from to cause so many people..good people all this pain and misery.. :(

Natty,

Oxi seemed to settle into a pattern for me, the more rounds I had, the longer it took for me to shake off the fatigue. Sometimes It was day 7, or even day 9. Don't let your friend get discouraged. Even though he had some recovery time before starting chemo, his body is still likely weakened from surgery. Adding chemo on top of that is rough, and oxi is not an easy drug.

You've got the right idea. Fluids and rest. Has he had any nausea? I was able to keep my under control, but it took Rx medicine each time. Lesson to be learned, don't let it get out of control before trying to treat it. My nurses tell me "you have to stay ahead of the nausea," and I've learned they are right.

Good luck. Let us know how things are going.

I just finished #6 of flofox 6. I get fatiuged after every cycle for 2 or 3 days. If I don't rest I get a fever and I am totaly wiped. As treatments go on you will know what to expect and how to deal with it. Take nausea meds more often, rest, rest, rest. If it gets to bad talk to doc about adjusting meds.
