Update on my liver resection yesterday! 3/23/010

Postby jobasar » Wed Mar 24, 2010 12:27 pm

Hi, just wanted to let you all know that I had my surgery yesterday and they removed some of my liver and did not have to remove the whole rt. lobe. He said that he had to take my gall bladder out because it was too close to my tumour on my liver. He said that I would have the same out come with partly lobectiony verses taking out the whole rt. lobe. He fixed my hernia and took out the skin tag off of my bottom. That was painful. I'm on the epidural with morphine and very little pain. Last time I had tons of pain because I did the pain pump and not the epidural.

They are sitting me in a chair today and made my bed. My surgeon will come talk with me after a difficult surgery that he is in for now. I 'm very itchy and I think it is the tapes they use. They give me benedryl to control it but still itchy. I hope and pray that I will be in remission and stay that way. If now then I hope that we can zap the things out of me. Well, I'm still in ICU but a little drugged up. Is that I am having a really hard time staying up rt. now. Off to bed.

Allie
Good to hear you're up and around so soon after your surgery and glad that they're managing your pain well. I recovered fairly quickly after my liver resection. It was spring and I remember being able to go walking outdoors a few weeks after I was home from the hospital. You sound like your doing very well already.

I'm impressed. I had my liver resection on a Monday morning and it was Wednesday evening before I had coherent conversation, let along being able to type. Hope all continues to go well.

Wow! I'm impressed. You are doing so well. I had such a tough time with the tape during my colon resection, that after the liver resection, once they removed the tape the day after surgery, they never put anymore back on. Healing from the damage the tape can cause to your skin can be so painful. Epidurals are wonderful, aren't they. Here's to NEDville!

Great news Allie. Continued success on your receovery. Important...the itchy thing may be an allergic reaction...I had that on day too also and they immediately took me off dilaudid.

Glad to hear you are starting to feel better and on the road to recovery. Epidurals are the way to go (for me) and I had a terrible reaction to one particular type of clear heavy duty plastic tape. The "paper" tapes are much easier on you. keep your strength up , plenty of rest !!! and take care of yourself.

Prayers and best wishes for clear sailing from here on.
