Well, it was a race and the chemo won.
I had chemo last Thursday and I sailed through the weekend! No vomiting, hardly any side effects at all, actually. I was SO optimistic and looking forward to this week of spring break to eat and sleep and generally regain strength.
OH WELL.
By Tuesday, I was weak as a kitten and fearing that I was on a bad trajectory, but my bloodwork that the home care peeps draw weekly didn't look too bad.
On Wednesday, I called my doc and he brought me in to the office for some fluids and planned to give me a couple of units of blood on Friday.
On Thursday I spiked a fever and they admitted me. Even with Neulasta, my WBC had plummeted from 48K to 500 between Tuesday and Thursday and my blood cultures were growing things.
So here I am. Taking up a perfectly good stem cell transplant unit bed while I wait for things to turn around.
On the bright side, the bathroom is nice and close and I have been able to catch up on the episodes of Project Runway that I missed when I was home watching the Olympics.
Thanks for all the PM's wondering where I've been. Pretty much too weak to type, which is saying something!
