Silly Sayings & Slang thread

This is intended to be light hearted, but because I am a smartass, with an edgy, warped sense of humor, I thought I should include a disclaimer ! I have taken my cue from a number of other CClubbers who have "created" imaginative wording to describe our antics here. We have a legitimate "Terminology and Defintions" thread. This is NOT it, but because any discipline develops its own vocabulary.... I thought that this journey, with all the great folks we have on this board, could create a whole "street' language for the CClub. Feel free to add / change / or reinvent anything here. I accept full responsibility for most of this (for better or worse) but do recognize the creative efforts of other members who have already started me on the path.

So without further ado, in no particular order, I give you the unofficial CClub "Silly Sayings & Slang thread" ( otherwise known as Wacky Words of Wisdom.)

Scanxiety - anxiety created while waiting for a scan to be done, or scan results to come back.

Sucknitude - as in "It sucks to a huge magnitude".

Presults - preliminary results we try to coax out of technicians or assistants before the doctor gives us the official results.

Clustration - the frustration of having "cluster" BM's at any stage of the colorectal journey.

Chemorrhoids - ano-rectal swelling or irritation due solely to the effects of chemotherapy.

Fartistic - using intestinal gas as a creative outlet (often perfected by younger male NON colorectal patients).

Stagination - letting your imagination run wild, while waiting for your diagnostic stage to be determined. Will often accompany Scanxiety and promote attempts at getting Presults.

Stimagination - general term for letting our "stimulated imaginations" get away on us.

BMW's - (Bowel Movement Worries) any concern regarding output at the back door or ostomy. Can also be used to refer to" Butt Management Woes" in a more general sense.

Accshitdents - unexpected demonstrations of bowel function. Considered a major BMW.

Trustration - the frustration created when you think someone is not giving you the straight story.

Asscuses - creative attempts to blame pets or children for Accshitdents, such as rumblings and odors. May result from Fartistic endeavors in some individuals.

Sharts - BMW produced from the three phases of matter all blown into one, although two phases may often suffice.

Humorass / Hilariass - any degree of amusement peculiar to CClubbers or their bottom-line discussions.

Firerrhea - particularly uncomfortable BMW which often presents with Chemorrhoids (also referred to as "fire in the hole").

Comfartable - feeling of well deserved relief after passing gas (not normally associated with Sharts or other BMW's). Some argue it is actually a Fartistic endeavor (again, usually younger males).

Poopcorn - Supposedly cooked vegetable matter which emerges unscathed as a BMW.

Catscan - when your feline searches for just the right place to lie down on you. ( can also be termed Petscan if you have a dog, weasel, iguana or other non-feline companion, but cats are particularly good at finding the WRONG spot).

Lab work - taking your dog for a walk or cleaning up the back yard after him.

Lab results - what you cleaned up in the back yard.

******************************************************

As always...YMMV significantly !

Cheers

Ah the wonders of Sharting :). My friends and I also sometimes call it playing a game of "crap or gas" when you have one of those farts that you think is gonna be boarderline but you're not really sure... So you get the quizzical look on your face, let one fly and then declare whether you win or loose :)

Don't have anything near as wonderful to add, but you have made me laugh, and have brightened my day considerably. Thanks for the warmth of humor when it's so freaking cold outside!

Excellent idea to document CRC jargon! I love it! 8)

I think you covered the major ones. In addition how about:

CEAngst - the anxiety laden period while one awaits CEA test results

Oxi-moron - how one feels after several rounds of chemo that include the evil oxaliplatin

colon-cleanse - another term for BMW

chemo-brain - the cumulative side effect of chemo on brain function, can in fact be used as an excuse for either old age or simply getting out of having to do work, as in: "I'd love to help you work on that spreadsheet but I am having a bad spell of chemo-brain today so I better just rest"

That's all my chemo brain cal do for today....I'm off to the loo for another spell of BMW's....

I think it was Justsing who coined Obsessive Googling Disorder (OGD) -- the inability to quit looking up all things CRC related on the computer, even when it is freaking you out. Been there, keep doing it any way. Susan

Oleostomy - What Swedish guys get.

Stomacide - Ostomy reversal.

Scope-Dope - The stuff they give you to make colonoscopies tolerable.

Sigmoid Freund - A psychiatrist with his head in the wrong place.

This is not from Colon club, I learned it many years ago, but it is appropriate to many discussions:

Flaming A: the burning around your rectum, induced by radiation damage or hemorrhoids, everytime you have a BMw

ER window roll: Rolling all windows down in car at the same time and then back up again, before kids can ask if you just used the Nuclear Option on them.....again. :o
