Well, last friday I had the TEM surgery on the lesion in my rectum. The doc said the surgery went well, and other than the problem with my bladder shutting down, and having to drain 1.2l of urine from an in/out cath procedure I came out of everything in pretty good shape. Other than soreness and having to retrain my bladder a bit, I'm felling quite well now. It's been a bit of an anxious week for me waiting for the pathology on the lesion to determine my final staging, but I'm releived and thrilled to report that the doc says the report was quite favorable and did not show any extension into the venous system, which bascially means the excisision procedure should be all I need for now without the need for radiation or chemo. I feel a bit guilty bringing it up here with so many of you having gone through much more than I, but I wanted to express my appreciation and admiration for all that you do for each other here in this forum. I may be lucky now, but for the past month its been a rollercoaster of a ride not knowing If I was gonna be stage Iv or I, what kind of surgery I might be in for, and what radiation or chemo treatments I might need. My head has been swirling with the possibilities, but somehow I always felt better knowing that there were others going through the same thing (not that I would wish this on anyone) and that your stories of help and support really carried me through it all. I still face the uncertainties of recurrance, and I know I will be going through a vigorous process of testing and such over the next 2-3 years to keep an eye on things, but I know I'll get through it OK and I hope that I can help out in some manner with others in facing that unknown. Thanks again all of you for being here...
Warm Regards to all of you, Scott Stephens
