It's been chilly here, too. Down to 65℉ this morning -- brrr! But it got my 30 minute jog down to 29:30 minutes -- got to get home to warm up!

Got to the gym yesterday, made it the 100 stories on the stair climber :D. And my calculation was wrong, it's 15 steps per story at 1 foot per step, so 100 stories is 1500ft up. Sweet :). Big mountains, here I come

I had a great ski around the golf course over my lunch hour. So nice this time of year. Hey Greg--it was about 9 degrees F, sun was shining and there was a stiff wind blowing out of the west. Perfect exercise weather. I stayed nice and cozy in my new Craft ski jacket. It weighs about as much as a sweatshirt, but keeps me warm enough to sweat by the time I'm done, with just a long-sleeve nylon jersey for a base layer. BTW, I can see that Skifletch and his fiance are serious downhill skiers--sensible attire for the hardcore enthusiasts.

Ah, memories. I hiked in New Hampshire's White Mountains with some friends in Fall of 1964.

Glad you like it Eric, I bought her pretty much everything she's wearing in that pic, so I guess in a way I dressed her

I am going after work to the gym.
Plan to do my cardio, so easy on the strength (still have the pain in my side/stomach but it is better) Take a 20 minute or so sauna and walk both ways- total 3 miles in addition to my work out

I am giving up any hope that my diet will ever work
I am trying to accept that this is how I will be , plan to do a major clothes clean out this weekend and throw out all the skinny things that haunt me every morning and try to be happy with my current weigh.

I can’t go off the diet or I will gain weight, so no junk/fun food ever – well it doesn’t really taste that good anyway
Actually food doesn’t taste exactly as it should – wonder if it’s the healthy foods(but so much gas- embarrassing) or my taste buds went nuts.

I went off the cymbalta for 2 ½ months- no weight loss..cut down my inhaled steroid 6 weeks now - not breathing as good as before and still no weight loss. So it seems it’s not the med just me. The worst part other than hating shopping is when others look at me and think I have no willpower or discipline I do but honesty I don’t know what has happened to my body.
I have tried the diets, cut out the meds busted my butt exercising and still no results.

My hands hurt from the cold ( snow tomorrow but probably not enough to stay home under the covers with jerry). My knee aches and my feet/legs hurt so bad this morning I felt like crying – did I mention my crummy date late weekend

Guess I am just feeling crummy-

I will continue with my exercise program I like how it makes me feel, it reduces my stress, have been sleeping great, some muscle tone but it's hard to see through the fat, I like the fact it may help prevent future cancers and for my bones

Beautiful sunny cool day out here (Still no massive Olympic size snowfalls though :( ) did the "puppy"walk and treadmill thing (my usual) and just back from a hearing test...never had one..nothing to do with any kind of cancer stuff...so I enjoyed it !
Cheers all, keep up the good work..outs.

I know. I miss the junk and sweets less than I thought I would. In the two years after I was treated for rectal cancer, I gained 25 pounds. It was hard getting rid of it, but I've lost 20 of those pounds in the last two years. I don't know whether the change in my metabolism is connected with the cancer treatment, but I just can't handle the heavy stuff any more and, luckily, am also losing my taste for it.

I am not having a successful month (exercise), but doing what I can. I had to have some out patient surgery 10 days ago, thus did not feel like walking much last week (did once). Found out this past Friday an infection developed on the site, and am now under Dr's orders, not to power walk, for at least the next week, as the surgeon does not want me to sweat at surgical site. So if I do walking now it is very low key and just getting errand done. Maybe next week.

Helen,

Hope it gets better for you, winter is a hard time to try and lose weight, especially after the holidays. Sometimes we just have to take it one day at a time.

I've been doing yoga on Saturdays (1.5 hrs in a brew-pub that has a heated cement floor...sweet! I've been walking a lot at work, doing some running in the dunes (we live near Lake Michigan), walking the dog, riding the bike on the rollers, etc.

I have noticed that if I ride the bike, it seems as though the pelvic pressure (from riding) lessens the "diarrhea" urges....which is good.

I have 2 exercise "carrots." 1) Dances With Dirt - a team trail running relay in eastern MI in early September and 2) riding Beech Mountain in western NC in mid-September. (Beech Mountain was a pivotal ride in Lance Armstrong's return to cycling before his first Tour de France victory of 1999.)

Woo, back at the gym today again :). The nice part about bieng a weakling is you improve quick. Already up weight on most every exercise which rocks. Unfortunately found out from my buddy's wife (pharmacist) that Decadron really doesn't have an impact on exercise performance or recovery, so my planning of kicking my ass today and using the decadron to help heal is kind of moot point.

didn't want to burst the bubble bro' but , Yes....corticosteroids.....not Anabolic Terminator Incredible Hulk...steroids  Oh well at least you can get away with stuff and blame it on the "roids"...not to be confused with ..."RHoids ! " which also may put a different hitch in your walk

Keep kickin' it anyway.

Cheers

OK people...so I blew my diet this week. We finally sold our house! (yeay!) so we HAD to celebrate....wings and beer....oh my. So ya, the diet is off kilter...BUT I did still do my gym stints and I walked several times this week including at lunchtime at work, which is not always possible for me.

The beer and wings were really good tho.
