Dear Colon Club,
My friend Kisa is a stage IV Colon Cancer Survivor. She is 33 years old and lives in Southern California. On Christmas Evening, I received a call from her mother to tell me that Kisa was no longer responding to chemotherapy.
As of late, she has been unable to communicate on the phone. Her mom tells me that she sleeps most of the time, she is loosing weight, on morphine for pain management and is on intermittent oxygen (due to the lung mets).
Kisa has an infectious laugh and zest for life. We both share a love for basketball. She played college basketball at UCLA and her brother Gab plays semi pro ball in Europe. Both over 6' tall (much taller than me), I am definitely the peanut of the bunch.
Kisa, Steve (and Nancy Lopez) and I met over two years ago. When we met, the three of us were all going to kick a little cancer a#$ and save the world. Sadly, Nancy passed away last October. Though I remain hopeful, I see Kisa slipping away.
I do trust that God has his arms wrapped around each of us and would be grateful if you could have dear Kisa and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
Always,
Holly
