I'm bleeding during preparing for colonoscopy.why?

Postby nuala » Thu Feb 01, 2007 6:33 pm

Thank you for those of you who encouraged me to get my first colonoscopy. I"m 50, a new mother with some history of IBS. The
colonoscopy is tomorrow morning..it's been really scary..just thinking
about it the last few days...not the procedure, but the result. But my
question for now, is, why is there blood in the toilet bowl while I'm
cleaning my bowel out for tomorrow's procedure? Did it happen
to anyone else? What does it mean?

Thank you

What I would what to know is why are you getting a colonoscopy in the first place? Have you bled before? Hemorroids?

Wanting to help!

Because I've had a number of symptoms...

over the past three weeks. Chills, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal cramping, blood (once) in the toilet, my age and IBS on/off for twenty years. That's why the specialist recommended a colonoscopy immediately. (It's in the post below)

missed the IBS....but even with that i can't imagine your doc not having you get a colonoscopy earlier. it will help. find out what is going on and go from there. do you trust your doc? this is the most important question when it comes to 'cancer scares'..
