Just got results of chest CT, and everything is stable. Apparently I have had lung nodes from the start, but they haven't changed. My CEA is 2.7, which has been slowly decreasing. So I am NED for 33 months. :)

Want to share good news...May 2016 Five year scans of chest, abdomen and pelvis, NED. Just passed my five year anniversary as a survivor of Stage 3B colon cancer adneocarcinoma...Was not sure this anniversary would come, so grateful.

Like many of you experienced depression after treatments were over and I had to face reality... Started medication(took several tries to find right one), began therapy, then Left my stressful executive job 31 months ago, teaching college part time and in school full time, fulfilling one of my personal goals of obtaining a doctorate degree. Graduate in 9 days! Not much money but now in jeans and sneakers every day. I still see therapist monthly though we are now moving to every 6 weeks.

My oncologist and I had a laugh in April about my new "less stressful" lifestyle when I asked to delay scans until after my defense at university. I can sincerely advise others to talk with your doctor about medication and start counseling if you are experiencing depression. It is a real illness!

God Bless

Keitha

We were out of town with FIRST Robotic Competition in St Louis when I hit my anniversary day. It was not till the next day on the plane (late at night) on the way home that it hit me, It has been 12 yrs since my diagnoses. My signature line tells the story. I was told on my last Onc visit (Aug 2015), that I was cured. I should be more concerned about a new cancer than this one popping up again.

For those just starting this journey, NEVER give up the hope. When I started, FOLFOX was still experimental. I was my Onc 1st patient to get it. There have been many advancement since my diagnoses. More people are beating this cancer today, than when I was diagnosed. I carry many people in my heart that did not make up.

A day early but it will be 9 years tomorrow.
After the confusion of my colonoscopy of April 27th ( the Procedure Report referred to Lymphoma instead of Lipoma), I'm grateful to still be alive and well.

I continually read over these success stories to renew my hope and fortify me to keep going through Tx. It's so encouraging to be reminded that this thing, this beast, CAN be beaten once and for all.

A million thanks to those of you who constantly remind us to NEVER lose hope. You are angels. :)

Still NED - sigmoidoscopy coming up in September. Still experiencing significant but manageable 'stocking' neuropathy in feet and lower limbs.
