I was NED for 11 months the first time and 14 months the second. I just wanted to post mostly to say thanks for posting! It's wonderful to see a long string of posts from people who are winning the war. Yea for NED and best wishes to all of you with upcoming scans for continued good news and health. You're all inspiring me which is exactly why I wanted to be here.

Hi Brienne, I'm sorry you have not remained well.
If you look at the thread you'll see the others have remained NED since surgery and treatment. I was looking for Stage III's who have not progressed ....... to give us hope!

Diane, I trusted I would be Cured from the start. Since they count from your first treatment, I am 19 months to the good now. Actually only 16 months since they removed my Tumor and lymph nodes.

I'm curious to know for all you Stage III NED's how are your Vitamin D levels? Anyone with low Vitamin D still NED or dare I say cured??

MMIL, My Vit D Level WAS low, but is in range now -after taking Supplements (2 tablets a day).
From the MDs, I was unaware of the Vit D issue, so my level was never assessed when the Cancer was active. Only last summer, well after all the Chemo and Surgery. From the current literature, there appears to be a link to Cancers; especially Colon.
Your question, however, appears to focus on whether a person who does not (or cannot) raise their Vit D level will relapse. I for one will stay on an Anticancer Diet; not to test fate. And thank God that my Onc agreed on taking Vit D, and that my body responded.

Just dropping a little note of jubilation. Went over my CT scan today with my onc., 2 years ( almost) from my last chemo. Everythings clear and I can now get my port removed next week.

ned since surgery 6/6/6 so 3 1/2 yers. just recenty found out of vit d level is low normal

One oncologist told me that about 80% of all recurrences occur within the first 2 years after treatment ends, 99% within 5 years. So you are doing pretty good to get to 3 years without recurrence.
My husband 68 had resection stage 3 2 1/2 years ago, have done supplements, Avemar, Essiac tea, IP-6, flax oil and cottage cheese. No problems to date.
