For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

Told by my Mayo oncologist I was in the group most likely to recur because CC in both my appendix and right colon. Happy to share Year 4 Scans NED. If October colonoscopy is good I graduate from 6 month scans to annual scans . I had some bumps along the way...enlarged right ovary..resolved Year 1, abnormal mammogram Year 2 , OK but need those annual mammograms.
So happy to share my NED status and give hope to others who are III C.

This past August has been three years NED for me. Next month (Oct) will be my first "annual" scan - previously they were done every six months. I am feeling a little stress to put it mildly but trying to keep it under control. I feel good and my only real issue is that my energy level never returned to what it was before cancer. I will be very happy if all I have to deal with is feeling like a "lazy bones" for the rest of my hopefully long life Oh yes, I almost forgot, chemo brain is still with me but much better than it was three years ago

any posters in this thread NED 2-3+ years that had 19 or more+ positive lymph nodes?

how frequently did you scan? CT or PET or both? How often did you get CEA measurements?

Welcome, sorry for the reason you are here.

I passed my 10 yr mark this yr as a stage IIIC rectal cancer survivor.

19 possible nodes is a lot, but on the bright side, hopefully they got all the cancerous nodes out of you.

I'm assuming you are a stage III (no met anywhere else in your body), CAT or PET/CAT scans every 6 months for at least the next 3 yrs, CEA draws every 3 months for the next 3 yrs. The best piece of advice given to me; any aches or pains, lasting longer than 2 weeks needs to be followed up.

I would first like to thank each and every warrior who follows or posts on this so supportive forum. May God watch over all of us. I was dx 10/14 with CC t3n1a 1 of 20+ @ age 54. After resection then first ptscan I went through the mill when "lung thangs" were seen. Thoracic surgeon went in to find just nodules. Told me his 89 yr old mom has hundreds of them. He didn't suspect them to be a problem after examining pet results,but would check because of my highly vigilant and competent onc never leaves no stone unturned. Anyway, it has now been 4 years NED for me and I wouldn't have made it this far without everyone here and like to thank and pray for all of you to be rid of this invader of our bodys and minds never to come back again. It's taken me 4 years to finally post. I would like to give hope to everyone that this disease can be overcome. I'LL PRAY FOR ALL OF YOU TO GET AND STAY NED!

My CC was IIIC spread to a handful of lymphnodes. I'm coming up on 21 yrs NED!! Keep up the good work everyone!!

Wow! Congrats to Stevet on 21 years! I pray that I will be able to say the same some day.

I just celebrated 5 years since my initial diagnosis, with a clear CT scan and a fairly normal colonoscopy. The GI doc found one small sessile polyp, but said he expects the path report to be ok.
