went to doctor and he told me....is this routine?

Postby rosadoza » Wed Jan 24, 2007 11:01 pm

Hey everyone,

I posted earlier with my symptoms and I finally went to the doc with my list. He definitely is relating my fatigue with my occational red bowl movements. He said that I need to start with a bunch of blood work. He is testing me for anemia and a bunch of bacterial infections. After he gets those results back on Monday he is going to decide what to do next. Is this the routine that most of you have gone through. I just want to make sure I am getting the correct treatment. He did tell me that I will prob go for a colonoscopy and stool testing after the blood work. What do you think of his practices?

First of all good for you going in with your list of symptoms!!! It's always best to go in organized! Load yourself up with questions too and have them written down ahead of time.

It does sound like the regular protocol doing the blood work and that they are going to do the colonsocopy is very good!!! I definelty think you are on the right track and sounds like you are in good hands. Sounds like they are trying to rule out other stuff with the bacterial infection thing.

Best wishes and please let us know how it all turns out! :D

I had blood work, same as your, and some other other test. Doctor stuck a tube up my tail pipe and confirmed my rectal bleeding was due to my hemorroids. All my blood work came back normal. Doctor figured my rectal bleeding would be a good excuse to get my baseline done early in life, at the age of 46 I was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer.

It sould like your doctor is on the right track, chances are you will be o.k. Just make sure you get that colonoscopy, I do believe that is the best way to determine colon cancer.

I am a nurse, who works in a colonoscopy lab, and Stage 3 CC , off treatment April 2006. Your doctor seems to be on the right track, but continue to be aware of your symptoms, and if nothing comes back definitive, have that Colonoscopy. Your never too young, as you can see from this Club. Best of luck.
