Re: Covid 19 vaccine

HI guys, I hesitated to post a moderator 'hey guys, this is a warning' type of a post and I'm still not really going to. I'm simply asking that we, as a group, chill a little bit about our words, our political views, etc. I'm sure I can safely say that 2020 has a been a trying year for EVERYONE....C...

Re: Covid 19 vaccine

I can simply say that while I am a little nervous (I have a history of severe allergic reactions to drugs), I am ready and willing to take it. My friend's daughter who is an ER nurse at Harborview (Seattle) and has seen so many patients come in with COVID....received her shot this week. My GP who ha...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

A little late in the day but...better late than never! 2020 sure has been a WEIRD year.....one that I wish would go away and never come back. However, on this Thanksgiving Day, I am thankful for many things...my family, my friends and right now, I am thankful that I have not caught COVID. Yes, that ...

Re: Am I panicking for no reason? Slight rise in CEA levels

Years ago, on a test that I had a good 10 years out, my CEA jumped and the doctors were perplexed. I was talking to my surgeon at the time and she had the same issue with one of her patients. (BTW...this ....keep reading....still happens today). She (surgeon) told me that oftentimes labs switch from...

Re: Prep for colonoscopy

A few years back, my surgeon (she does my scopes) told me that the doctors in the surgery/GI clinic all had to do the preps to understand what the patient was going through. That was an eye opener for her. I NEVER am given the nasty stuff (although none of them are particularly pleasant). I did love...

Re: Not tolerating Xeloda. Are there any options?

Here is another suggestion that has worked for some people. Some doctors will use a 7 day on/7 day off Xeloda dosing. It may help you better tolerate the pills but first please try and reduce your carb intake. That may significantly help. Talk with your doctor about a different cycle....it's not a w...

Re: Not tolerating Xeloda. Are there any options?

If you think its the Xeloda, here are some questions you should answer. 1. When are you taking the pills? You should NEVER take Xeloda on an empty stomach nor should you take it with a meal. You SHOULD take it within 30 mins after finishing a meal. You can take it anywhere from 1 min to 30 mins AFTE...

Re: Prep for colonoscopy

Never had it....just wanted to say hi to another old timer :D Found this drug card for it online. As long as you aren't on Medicare or Medicaid.....this will work. Don't know how much it costs but every little bit helps. https://www.suprepkit.com/Savings Last year when I had my scope, my doctor Rxd ...

O/T - surgery a few days ago, it hurts and need advice

Sorry for the O/T rant/vent. This is hard to type with one hand so likely won't be long. I had surgery on Tuesday (5/26) and it is still so swollen, ugly and totally bruised. When I wad around 9, I shattered my wrist pretty badly. Bones repaired themselves but the blood supply to one bone didn't. Ev...

Re: High CEA, normal colonoscopy, need advise.

Hello Michael, First of all, I want to reassure you that CEA can easily be influenced by inflammatory processes within the body. Now, that doesn't mean that a sprained ankle or a simple cold will raise one's CEA....both my surgeon and onc have debunked that. However, serious/widespread inflammation ...

Re: Off Topic: British Colombia Travel Advice

Hey, I live in WA State and have traveled numerous times to Victoria (Vancouver Island). We took family vacations there, spent a few days here and there up in Victoria and have explored other parts of the island. PM me with specific questions that I might be able to answer. I absolutely LOVE the are...

Re: 10 Years and Counting

Hi Fletch, I've often wondered what happened to you....how you are doing, etc? I'm so glad you came back to give us all an update. For whatever reason, I always associated you with Eric (brownbagger) and CrGuy. It's like the three of you were the THREE MUSKETEERS. I remember when you got married and...

Re: Rectal Cancer: Habr-Gama Watch and Wait Strategy to Avoid Surgery

Not everyone experiences radiation proctitis....and even for those that do....there is not one size fits all. We tend to forget that we can and do have changes in our bowels that oftentimes don't mean anything. Don't get me wrong, I am NOT saying to ignore certain changes that persist ....but you ar...
