Re: Waiting for PET results & HAI pump issue

MSK is consistently ranked either the #1 or #2 cancer center in the US. Dr. Kemeny is one of the top oncologists in the country for colon cancer with liver mets (I would argue she's the best there is). Trust her.

Re: Calling all angels for a Christmas miracle

If you get an appointment with Dr. Kemeny, it'll be the best Christmas present ever. You'll most likely need a place local for chemo, so don't burn too many bridges. But if you're anything like me, the filter that's supposed to not let thoughts leave my mouth as spoken words doesn't always work (wel...

Re: Super scared that I might have CC

Hey speedy, Waiting is one of the worst things to deal with when you have or are concerned you have cancer. Unfortunately, there's no way around it. At your age, I would imagine it's something other the cancer. What exactly? No clue. It's Christmas. Enjoy the season with family and friends and stop ...

Re: Calling all angels for a Christmas miracle

If his mets are only in the liver, please call MSK and try to get an appointment with Dr. Kemeny. The HAI pump could possibly get him operable.

Re: Question about platelets

My platelets have been all over the place. From a high of 307 right before I started chemo to a low of 101. Not once did I have chemo suspended due to low platelets.

Re: Hello please help.

I hate to sound insensitive or uncaring, but you're a man and I'm a man so I'm gonna tell you one man to another...if you don't get the cancer out of your body, you're going to die. There's no sugar coating this. Nothing you eat or don't eat is going to kill the cancer. You need the surgery, you nee...

Re: No longer NED - DEVASTATED

We intend to go see Dr. Kemeny for a consultation assuming she agrees to see him. We want to hear what her recommendation would be, but, at the same time, we are not wasting any time moving forward at MGH to get the treatment he needs right away. From what I know about Dr. Kemeny, she is chemo-driv...

Re: Still NED!! Bit curious about surveillance scans

I'm stage 4 too, a year and a half post liver resection surgery and 9 months post chemo. I get CTs from my throat to butt every 3 months with an MRI thrown in when something shows up on a scan that needs further investigation - which has happened several times so far. I'll continue with quarterly sc...

Hey Kelism,

Sounds like your mom passed peacefully. You're a good daughter to be there with her till the end.

God bless.

Re: Question About Indeterminate Pulmonary Nodules And Staging

Hey Deep, Unfortunately those reports are written in a way that most people, including myself, have no clue what they mean. I depend on my oncologist to interpret for me and she's darn good at it. Pulmonary nodules could be nothing and they could be cancer. I've had things show up that turned out to...

Please try to get him to see Dr. Kemeny. I don't care how much he likes his surgeon...this isn't about making friends...it's about saving his life.

Hey Darkness,

Not sure aspirin is such a good idea if you're already experiencing bleeding.

Re: Supporting my husband with a new DX

At 6'2" and 201lbs, he's light but not too light in my opinion. I have a good friend who was 6'5" and 165lbs. when he was having a difficult time with diabetes and he's fine now. If your husband is stage 1 or 2, a cancer center ranked 48th may be okay. If he turns out to be stage 3 or 4 or...

Re: Supporting my husband with a new DX

Hey Melissa, It's normal to lose weight and generally look bad when going through cancer and its treatment. I was 5'9", 205lbs. and built like a tank before all this started. After my liver resection, I was 145lbs. - and yes, I looked bad, very bad. But now I'm back to almost 180lbs. and feelin...

Re: How to Find The (Best!) Surgeon? The challenge of getting answers from surgeons....

Hey lakeswim, I was referred to the surgeon who did my colon resection by the GI doc who found the cancer. He did a fine job, but since I was stage iv from the start I wish I had gone to MSK for the colon resection since it could have been done at the same time as my liver resection. But hindsight i...
