Re: Precancerous Polyp at 23

Lynch Syndrome is associated with a dramatically increased lifetime risk of developing many different types of cancer, colorectal just being the highest risk factor of them all. But it does not predispose you to cancer as a young adult. The neoplasticity resulting from a pathological mutation in you...

Re: Malignant polyp, stalk invaded

A young relative has recently been diagnosed with a large malignant predunculated adenoma in the sigmoid colon. The polyp was completely excised in one clean cut during the colonoscopy which discovered it, and the colon lining was tattoed. The pathology report showed that the cancer had invaded int...

Re: Precancerous Polyp at 23

I've had "tummy troubles" most of my life. Blood, pain, cramping, etc... I recently changed doctors and he noticed my significant weight loss (70 lbs/year) and started asking questions. This eventually led to a colonoscopy/endoscopy combo to check for Celiac. He found a hiatal hernia and ...

Re: CEA 1.4: ng/ml CA-19.9: 7.2U/ml - chance for Metastasis in liver?

Single low readings are limited, preliminary information cancerwise, although statistically the odds are much more favorable with low values. Also the CEA and CA19-9 by themselves are a limited picture. If you have been diagnosed with CRC, hopefully you are still lower stage and curable. However, v...

Re: Lynch Syndrome and 12mm polyp

I had a colonoscopy in june, which was 23 mo. after the previous one, and I have a 30 mm polyp which I'm still waiting to have removed. The Dr. Did ask if I had Lynch syndrome, but I was never tested. The biopsy was negative, so I'm hoping they will be able to remove it without surgery. Good luck w...

Re: Lynch Syndrome and 12mm polyp

Thank you for responding. It's my nature to think 5 steps ahead, get all the info I may need in order to prepare. Being a nurse is a blessing and a curse, blessed to have the knowledge and cursed to have the knowledge as in being naive isn't a luxury. I had a hysterectomy in 2015 for precancerous l...

Re: Lynch Syndrome and 12mm polyp

One of the hallmarks of Lynch syndrome related CRC are fast growing polyps that skip most of the stages of polyposis and go nearly straight to cancer. I have been learning with the experts of Lynch at MSK. They advise yearly colonoscopies if you have Lynch for this very reason.

Re: Stage4 Mum with Multiple Lung Mets

So I've been going through the Hong Kong Department of Health website to see if I could find any information to help you reduce these costs. One tool they have is a drug search engine that lets you find out exactly how HK classifies various drugs. I found both Avastin and Pembrolizumab (Keytruda) in...

Re: CEA 1.4: ng/ml CA-19.9: 7.2U/ml - chance for Metastasis in liver?

Hi. The case is as follows: A week ago a 3-4 cm tumor was identified in the colon. There is some suspicious 1.6 cm lump in the liver, which could be metastasis, but not necessarily as there is uncertainty (both ultrasound as well as the CT check could not approve/disprove it). CT PET check will be ...

Re: Stage4 Mum with Multiple Lung Mets

Interesting, so it seems like HK is more like the USA health insurance wise. But I figured if even we have a public option, surely HK would. But maybe not. $3000/month after insurance is pretty insane and most people can’t afford that. I don’t know what to tell you other than listen to your doctors....

Re: Stage4 Mum with Multiple Lung Mets

We have seen an onco today. The Onco read through my mum's report and he thinks that the lung nodules are LUNG METS. We have also check KRAS genes to see if there are more drugs can be used for targeted therapy. Finger crossed. He suggested my mum's situation is not so good, so he recommended using ...

Re: Polyps in my mid 25s

Contact memorial Sloan kettering’s genetic counseling center. For possible lynch syndrome and other germline genetic mutations they are researching, they will sponsor your genetic testing if insurance and/or your government won’t pay. It is important research, so they have the funds to offer it to s...

Re: Port side of neck tender - Should I be concerned about blood clot?

So glad you got it checked out. You rule. Glad it’s not a clot. I did have swollen lymph nodes found during hospitalization, and the scan report said something similarly scary, but I actually had an infection from the thrush so that explained it. I am really sorry you have to worry about that now, b...

Re: Polyps in my mid 25s

Hi guys. I'm new in this forum and I'm from Denmark- Copenhagen (pardon my bad English). I got so desperate finding someone with a similar case, that I ended up here, in fact I almost cried when I found you because I felt so alone. I had for a long period been having blood on my stool and irritatio...
