Re: Please help! ileostomy reversed Dr now wants Perm Colost

Yes that was kinda my surgeons speech. Ones a bigger surgery... However I get that but is the outcome and quality of life better? Frustrated as I don't know... You would think the surgeons could give us more direction.

Re: Please help! ileostomy reversed Dr now wants Perm Colost

Rick, Thank you! I think a guys is referred to as GI Joe butt :) I'm just so torn on which type to get and what are the benefits of one over the other, risks, ect of that nature. I know I want a colostomy, not an ileostomy however which one I'm clueless! I do like the idea of not having any leakage....

Re: Please help! ileostomy reversed Dr now wants Perm Colost

Thank you all for your time advice and replys! My surgeon moved my surgery date back to April 30th from the 16th so that I would be able to get in 30 Hyperbaric treatments. I have been going two times daily and he is in hopes that it will diminish all of the scar tissue caused by radiation so that h...

Re: Please help! ileostomy reversed Dr now wants Perm Colost

Ok I'm back one last time :) I made the final decision yesterday with my surgeon to go with a permanent Ostomy! Whew! Now that I've made that decision I feel 100% confident in it and I know it's the best decision for me. Funny enough my surgeon even agrees. He said he doubts with as low as he had to...

Re: 1st Post treatment PET scan results- What does this mean

This is the exact same area lighting up again in my left neck. The left groin is new. Between this PET and the last PET the did a CT scan of the neck as well as tried to biopsy unsuccessfully. The two nodes lighting up are between karadid artery and jugular vein. Making it difficult for then to get ...

Re: Please help! ileostomy reversed Dr now wants Perm Colost

Tammylane I loved your post! It helped me take off the fuzzy glasses and see clearly so to speak! That is all I've been striving for daily is just to carry on. However it seemed everyday I was falling further behind. I made a huge decision today in regards to my health and cancer. Those of you that ...

Re: 1st Post treatment PET scan results- What does this mean

Ok..."breathing" ;) Your so right! They can totally be nothing. Just a reactive node. I think I was just looking forward to hearing " Your scan is clean" that this news seemed huge and scary when in reality it's just another node. I did some reading and it is possible for this to...

1st Post treatment PET scan results- What does this mean?

My doctor just called with my post treatment pet scan results. The year ago I had surgery and had my email cancer removed along with a J pouch ileostomy formed. I have since then completed chemotherapy and radiation, and had my takedown. Today my pet scan results came back and he left them on my voi...

Re: Please help! ileostomy reversed Dr now wants Perm Colost

Belle, I was just reading through these comments and noticed the gal above my last post. Her comment, AI. She said something about having 6 pounds of her insides removed which I'm assuming was all of the guts of what makes us. Normally when she had her colostomy bag attached. It sounds like from wha...

Reversed Ileostomy 10 weeks ago. Struggling Bigtime! Help :(

I had my ileostomy takedown on Jan 15th... 10 months prior I had a Jpouch created with a very low anal resection. On march 5th I was back in the hospital for a 3rd surgery to remove staples from the original surgery. My cancer was super ultra low in my rectum so the staples were killing me! Since th...

Re: Please help! ileostomy reversed Dr now wants Perm Colost

I agree I am very early into this, only 6 weeks. My doctor did say time could be on my side, however he did confirm he went lower than he probably should have. He said he's never gone so low before. I have tried an enema 3 times," i enima'd daily prior to getting cancer." Because my anasta...
